Is Ixo worth the money

I'm sure there's a few of us that have bought a few Ixo or Altaya models over the past months.

Do you now feel these models were worth the expense?

I have the Japanese planes as well as two of the Russians and am very happy with them. There are no other options for planes like the Raiden and La-7 othe r than IXO/Altaya. I just wish I could get the posters that come with them in Europe.

Some yes. Some no.

I had a thread I started on the old forum that guys that had a good sized collection rated most of them. I have since bought a good many.

I like the most of the Japanese planes. The Hs 129 is pretty good. The D.520 is decent.

The thing to remember is IXO makes some planes that some of the other makers might never make. Or it may be a VERY looooong time until they get around to them.

Two schools of thought exist on IXOs, Aircrafty:

One believes they’re worth every penny, simply because IXO produces warbirds no other manufacturer will even consider making – for now, anyway.

The other school maintains quality trumps variety, and because too many IXO models are kinda “iffy”– if not downright rotten – they suggest you sink your money into quality models made by manufacturers like Hobby Master or Dragon, to name two.

Personally, I used to belong to the first school. Then I saw the light and switched to Hobby Master and Dragon; I’ve never regretted the move. But I did keep the Japanese planes.

Generally? No!

The Japanese planes are okay, but for the rest - Corgi, Dragon, Witty, or HobbyMaster either have better models, or soon will.

Will probably hold back now that Hobbymaster and Gemni Jets are in the market, and see what the produce, as the quality and detail of these are far superior, well Hobbymaster are as i have seen them in the flesh, Gemni will have to wait and see, but they do look good from the pictures i have seen, and reports from those in the know.

As said before, some yes and some no; however, the unique planes make up for their lack of accuracy, IMHO. Where else can you find a Hs 129 or 219..etc.??? I believe most are worth the money, but for the more common planes there are better opinions (Corgi, Dragon, etc).

The models I have, I love ---until so else makes a better model hehehe

It seems to me some people pay way to much for them on eBay. I usually just buy their molds that other companyies haven't made yet. And then only if they are cheap as most are rather poor models seen in comparison with Corgi and Dragon.
