Question Heinkel 219

I've got a problem or a puzzle and I don't know which it is. I started to assemble the bird and as I looked over the parts I realized that the covers for the engine nacelles were missing. The model can be displayed with wheels down, all the parts are there, but to show the 219 in flight means leaving two gaping holes in the nacelles. The covers are not lost; I always examine the plastic packaging before removing the model. So, what's up? Did I get a Monday morning plane packager, or is this the norm? Damn odd if it's the latter.

Re: Heinkel 219

Sorry to say, that is the norm. It appears that Ixo have decided to give us only a wheels-down option for this model. I find this particularly dissappointing as the wheels are pretty flimsy - I had to display mine on it's stand with wheels down because they wouldn't support it, even after making use of some white-glue.

Just another example of Ixo's hit-and-miss approach .

Re: Heinkel 219

The latest FW-190 from IXO has same problem. There aren't any wheel covers for in-flight option.

Re: Heinkel 219

It's a sorry diecast. I brought one from a friend fo $20 and I wish I hadn't. I still haven't tried to set it up. I could tell taking it out of the box the landing gear was going to be a problem. Looked cool in the box and went against my rule of thumb of Japanese aircraft only. Wish I could dump or trade it.

You surprise me.

I am rather satisfied with mine : I precisely found the landing gear easy to assemble and adequately sturdy (for once on a IXO !). I must say however, that I never use the stand and rely on Super Glue for assembly...

I think there is a real one at the NASM

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Heinkel 219

It is sad to think that some of these aircraft are the sole surviving examples of a type that had thousands built.
