Ixo P-40 ?

I was thinking of getting one of these. I like the heft and the markings on this one, but have seens some post about the accuracy? What is wrong with this one? Is it really that much cause it sure looks good in the pictures I have seen.

Re: Ixo P-40 ?

I am dubious on the markings... And seeing it up close the decals themselves seem heavy also. The only one I will encourage you to avoid though is the Wildcat! Especially w/ the super sweet Dragon Wildcats available.

I am pretty sure they are not decals but tampo prints, Does anyone that is not super picky have this one yet and can they give a review?

Re: Ixo P-40 ?

I have just won this model on ebay and expect it to arrive any day now. I will hopefully post a review sometime this week with some pics. I'm not "super picky" flaps.
Once my review is done, I'm embarking on a total redo of this models markings. I just ordered a set of decals from Squadron that includes markings for a Curtiss P- 40N Warhawk 8th FS/ 49th FG. Should hopefully look like this when done:

Re: Ixo P-40 ?

Whats wrong with the markings on it? So I am guessing the shape and all, dimensions and the like are good if you are using it as a basis for a custom job?

Re: Ixo P-40 ?

Flaps, don't really know how it looks. From pictures I've seen and considering it's an IXO model, I'm sure it isn't the world's greatest 1/72 scale diecast P-40N. At the moment though, it is the world's only 1/72 diecast P-40N and that is why I'm using it for a custom job. It's the only one available.

The markings it comes with just don't excite me, but they are accurate! There have to be at least a dozen better marking schemes out there so why did IXO settle for this one? I have previously read on the old MH site that FOV had plans for a P-40N but I haven't heard anything more. Since I've bought it, I might as well make it suit my taste. Besides, it should be fun.

Re: Ixo P-40 ?

In the pics it looks good and looks like neat markings. I know we all have favorites, and some are talented enough to customize.

Re: Ixo P-40 ?

I must admit those photos look good! The Chinese version (to me) looked a bit crude in the box. That "Skull" version though I had not seen... That one looks very nice.
