Question Hobby Master & Corgi

There are some rumours floating on the UK forum about a possible 'relationship' developing between Hobby Master and Corgi (perhaps related to the new Corgi 'Predator' range) .

If anyone has any factual information, please indicate it here as speculation and rumours of this nature are not necessarily beneficial to either the companies or the collectors.

Re: Hobby Master & Corgi

Good heavens! I don't have any information but why Hobby Master would want to affiliate themselves with the Old Dog when they are the rapidly becoming the hot item in the hobby I can't fathom. I guess every "outsider" eventually gets pulled into the the inside and suffer the same fate. If that is the case they have apparently made quite the impression on the establishment in their very, very young existence.

I'm sure everyone here has heard of money? Well, it's that thing that makes the world go 'round, and HobbyMaster obviously has gotten themselves a deal to make a ton or two of it. Worst case scenario? Your new Corgi may just be of HobbyMaster quality. Oh how we suffer!

Re: Hobby Master & Corgi

Well that is news to me.
As long as they make great diecast planes together and there at a good price.
It could be a good thing.
As of now it's just a rumour......No truth until one of the two companies make a press conference.

It is not rumours, but is a fact. The new "Predator" range for 2007 is a new range being brought out by Corgi using the HM moulds.

Money talks is the absolute truth but I don't know that I would say that the new Corgi being the quality of Hobby Master is the worst case scenario rather it sounds like the best case scenario. The worst case scenario, to me, is that Hobby Master will go up in price and begin to choose their subject matter more along the lines of Corgi and eventually be absorbed into the company. I love many of the pooches models and I like the fact they present a European flavor and by and large produce great models. However, I really love that Hobby Master is producing a high quality, economical and less available line with a bit more focus on the US.

Now, with all of that being said the above info that it is a new Corgi line which will use HM molds I think your point is much more likely, Dan. If HM continues to do their own thing but produce molds for Corgi then we very well may see your scenario.

This hobby would not exist if it wasn't for that old dog.
