Re: Skyhawk of the Angels

I wouldn't mind one, first time I ever saw the Blues was when they performed in Barbers Point NAS in the early 80s using the Scooter. Never got the chance to see a Phantom Display..wasn't alive yet, but can only imagine since I have seen F-4s blast off.

On another note, I added an original manufacturers model to my collection (not too sure which manufactuer but it is similar to a Topping) of an A4D. Its permanantly mounted on a clear stand, but is a fine representation of the original version of the Skyhawk and it's in 1/48. She looks quite nice next to my Topping F8U-3 Crusader III, and I have a Precise F-8C USN version on the way.

Re: Skyhawk of the Angels

I am really looking forward to the release of the A-4, and I'm sure there will be multiple examples finding their way to my hanger. But sorry, I'm not interested in these types of schemes, so I voted "not interested".

Not for me, I don't do post WW I!

Same here (mostly). However, these would look very sharp, especially if painted in gloss.

Yup...I had that one too!..I remember it had a hinged access panel on the side that you could open to see the engine. I don't even know that Lindbergh even did things to scale in those days. I think they just made them to fit in the box!. But as I recall it probably would have been around 1/48th....Wish I had that kit today. I probably wouldn't build it....I'd just open the box and sniff the styrene.........No....no...I would not sniff the styrene...That would be dumb.....Do not sniff styrene, kids...It will cause your head to catch on fire and your nose to fall off...

That's part of the fun of building models.....isn't it

Wasn't it Lindberg that also made an A-4 around 1/48ish that had the open access panel to see the engine. I remember building that one too. Oh, those were the days when we didn't worry about what color it should be or weathering, etc. In fact I didn't paint most of mine. I couldn't get them built fast enough so I could play with them.

Re: Skyhawk of the Angels

I think not. First lets get the combat machines. How about an Israeli one? Even the aggressor schemes should be great.

Say Spinnaker, didn't the Kiwis sport a multiple green scheme? I just think there are so many operators and therefore so many interesting schemes.

That said I think other operators also used it for their display teams so I guess a BIue Angels bird should be on the cards at some point.

Re: Skyhawk of the Angels

The RNZAF flew the A4 mainly in green/brown camo and/or green/grey camo schemes.

The celebrate 50 years of the RNZAF (golden anniversary) they painted one up in gold, which I think looks pretty cool.
