Dauphin Helicopter - Your thoughts of a 1/72 release

There has not been much talk of helicopters in recent weeks.... What would be your feelings for a 1/72 Aerospatial SA36 / AS 365, HH-65 Dauphin?? A small model model that yields lots of detail and color to a anyone's diecast collection!

Re: Dauphin Helicopter - Your thoughts of a 1/72 release

I think it would be a wonderful addition. However, I am not sure I would want HM to be the company to release one. I base that statement on my purchase of their first helicopter which was so badly done that I returned it to the vendor. This was the only HM model I have ever had a problem with, but it was enough to sour me on any other helo purchases from them in the immediate future. But I also realize HM is the only company with the desire to try something new so they are probably the best chance to get one made.

Along with your suggestion I would also like to see:

1. Eurocopter Tiger
2. Super SeaSprite
3. Kamov Ka-50
4. Mil Mi-8/14/17/24/28... (heck, any of the Russian helicopters)
5. Sikorsky MH-53
6. Westland Lynx

We need new and different helicopters, done well!

Re: Dauphin Helicopter - Your thoughts of a 1/72 release

The Dauphin would be a great release with all the various options, including the Panther and the Chinese built Harbins.

USCG orange
USCG white
Irish Air Corps
Royal Navy ,Bond Helicopters
French Navy
Isreal
Saudi etc
Also 8 flight Army Air Corps are getting four to replace the A-109s supporting the SAS in Counter Terror operations but it is doubtful if pics will ever appear of these ones (the 109s fly in civy schemes which change every few months)

Re: Dauphin Helicopter - Your thoughts of a 1/72 release

Anything new is exciting and a Dauphin would be welcome. However, my top 3 helo choices would be:- H19/S55/Whirlwind, AH1 'Cobra' and an Allouette III

Re: Dauphin Helicopter - Your thoughts of a 1/72 release

I don't mind the Dauphin but New Ray has released them in 1/48. Some people might like it and I won't protest against it, but I won't buy one. I'm waiting on OH-6 Cayuse, CH-146 Griffon, CH-47 Chinooks and most of all the all mighty USAF/USN/USMC H-53 Series (CH/HH/MH-53 Super Jolly Green Giant/Sea Dragon/ Pave Low III) in 1/72

Easymodel are bringing out the Dauphin in I think eight schemes.as for Chinooks, nothing wrong wit the Corgi ones ,especially the next release,RAF HC.2 "Bravo November" Operation Herrick Afghanastan.Just give the one with the Landrover and the SAS Legends ones a miss as they are total poop.Take a look at this thread on the DAF Chinook HC.1 18 Squadron, RAF, Falklands 1982 - The Diecast Aviation Web Site and Forum

I like the idea of the Dauphin, but I'd prefer a military aircraft even more.

You could also do Maryland State Police. I also am dissapointed with Hobby Masters Huey. Having worked on them many years. I just can't bring myself to get any of them.
