HM Pls make a Messerschmitt 163 Komet

Hi Hobby Master, please make a Messerschmitt 163 Komet in 1/32 or 1/72. It really looks like an ancient B-2. Or make a spectacular B-2 in 1/72 directly. That would be much sweeter.

Check it out.

Re: HM Pls make a Messerschmitt 163 Komet

I think that HM would enter a gold mine with Luftwaffe subjects inc.163 but 1/72 scale in my opinion is not the scale for 163, 1/32 and 1/48 are much better for such minuscule subject, even in 1/32 scale it would not be too big.

may be its hard to do a 162 well as the information about this craft is limited.

Re: HM Pls make a Messerschmitt 163 Komet

I agree that a 163 would be very small in 1/72 but I think it would have to be in this scale to sell in sufficient numbers. This is only my personal opinion though and I don't want to upset those who favour 1/48 which is arguably the best scale for smaller subjects (this coming from a 1/72 man!) Perhaps the Easy Model version will suffice for 1/72 ? (plus some add-on swastikas!)

Re: HM Pls make a Messerschmitt 163 Komet

A 1:48 or even 1:32 Me 163 would be cool. 1:72 is a bit too small for it to be worth it - plus, Easy Model has made a fairly good Me 163 in that scale.

A B-2 in 1:72 scale is not going to happen. Too big and too expensive for the mainstream. 1:144 maybe, but HM doesn't do 1:144.

I just imagined - how about a Me-163 by Herpa in 1:200 scale? You could use it as a tie needle or as a smoking button.

I indeed hope they make a B-2 in 1/72. Even if it would be expensive, it would be worth it. Actually the real thing is a costly thing also.

It reads:

An estimated US$23 billion was spent for research and development on the B-2 in the 1980s. At the program's peak, 13,000 people were employed at a dedicated plant in Pico Rivera, Cal. for the plane's engineering and some manufacturing. In his 1992 State of the Union Address, President George H.W. Bush announced total B-2 production would be limited to 20 aircraft, with a total inventory of 21 by upgrading the first test aircraft to B-2A Block 30 standard. The cost of the B-2 program in 1994 dollars was reported at $737 million per plane; however, the total cost of the program with development, spares, and facilities averaged over $2.1 billion per plane as of 1997 according to the B-2 program office.

Re: HM Pls make a Messerschmitt 163 Komet

An Me 163 in 1/48th scale would be the way I would like to see one done. Definitely could get a bit more detail with this scale.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Now, if that's your criteria for a new model we may have found a whole new level of obssession

As much as I like my models, I've yet to find one sexy -- though maybe I just haven't found the right one yet....

I'd love to see a metal Comet in 1:48 -- bring it on!
