Re: Ritchie F-4 bombs?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they're Mk. 82's with fuze spikes on them, that way the detonate above ground.

Question Re: Ritchie F-4 bombs?

GUYS:

Thanks for the info.
It sounds like Ritchie's F-4 is on a flak suppression mission---did Ritchie fly flak suppression missions or should the bombs be removed for accuracy?

The question isn't really whether Ritchie flew these missions but whether this airplane flew these missions. As has been discussed, this airplane was not Ritchie's airplane exclusively. He flew others and scored victories in other airplanes. This airplane scored victories when flown by other pilots. I believe Ritchie scored three of his victories in this airplane. The six stars represent six kills this airplane is credited with while being flown by different pilots. This happens to be the highest total by any single aircraft in the Vietnam war. Now, as to whether this airplane actually flew flak suppression missions, I do not know...

Yep, I know Ritchie also scored kills flying an F-4E...but for me, it's Ritchie's F-4D. If he didn't fly any bombing missions, I 'll remove the bombs.

Re: Ritchie F-4 bombs?

As one of the few combat tree equipped phantoms, I beleive it would have been used primarily for mig cap missions.

Re: Ritchie F-4 bombs?

While still somewhat the same topic, my Ritchie's Phantom keeps dropping his bombs in Laos even before he gets into North Vietnam and I don't know why. Okay, the racks keep dropping off when I have him on the stand. Anyone have any tips or tricks of keeping them on or will I have to crazy glue them? Thanks.

Re: Ritchie F-4 bombs?

Elmers White Glue is better than Crazy Glue. It will stick fine, and come off completely without damaging the bird.

Anything for a weird life.

Use a bit of white glue, it's easy to remove.
Mine had same problem,.. Actually had to rebuild the whole rack, everything came off.
