What About Some Observation Planes, HM?

Like this FW-189, for example.

Re: What About Some Observation Planes, HM?

I'd agree with Epz'

PLENTY of scope for colour-choices

An Fw.189 would make for an interesting & strong-selling model

The Airfix-kit WAS & is still an extremely popular choice

The 189's popularity ALSO Re-inforced by a dual-apperance on 'IL.2 Stormovik' & 'Forgotten-Battles'

I've been VERY fortunate to see (up close & personal) THE WORLD'S ONLY SURVIVING F.W.189 (back in 1998) owned by Jim Pearce

Was STILL in it's ACTUAL original 1943 Luftwaffe RLM paint, when I saw & walked round it (Twice) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, the bullet holes & original 'Stork' emblem/insignia were still there (& ALL Glass was missing....)

Has to be THE most unique COMPLETE salvaged a/c that I've EVER seen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I met & spoke with Jim Pearce (nice Guy) & he showed me his photo' log of the recovery = AMAZING !

The following year, I met & shook hands with the pilot, Lothar Mothes; he autographed my mate's book for him.

(Though sadly, Lothar doesn't speak English)

Sadly, I believe he has passed-away, since

So, yeah..... I've (certainly) got a 'soft-spot' for the F.w.189 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even IF it only ever seems I'm "shooting it down" in 'IL-2' LOL

Re: What About Some Observation Planes, HM?

Although, I'm generally lukewarm to Luftwaffe aircraft, I would have loved to add FW-189 to my hangar. On the Eastern Front, it was known as "window frame", and from a lot of VVS fighter pilots recollections notoriously difficult to shoot down.

Regards,

Sergey

Re: What About Some Observation Planes, HM?

The FW-189 would be great. So would be the Hs-126 or Ar-196.

Yep, all three would be pretty neat choices.( How about a Blohm und Voss BV 141?)

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Well, if ever a manufacturer is nuts enough to make it, being nuts myself no doubt I would buy it... But frankly, I don't see the point as long as far more significative types are missing, such as the 3 already mentionned, or the F1M, Ki-51, Walrus...
