Love those shark mouthes

I just purchased the green camo shark mouth A-10. This is the England AFB version with the blue/white checkered tail. After getting the first all gray shark mouth i never dreamed i'd need another but alas the camo version is the one I remember from my early teens that got me hooked on the Warthog in the first place. man with all pof it's weapons loaded it is a mean looking machine. hobbymaster did a superb job and i am planning on keeping both A-10's now. Thanks Phantom Phan for the fantastic model! This is one that will remain in my collection until I die.

I got my shipping notice from Racers Den just yesterday for this model (plus Ritchie's Phantom ). As this was going to be my first Warthog, I was torn on whether to get the gray Spangdahlem bird or this one. Should I go for the more recent scheme or the one from Cold War days? In the end, I picked the Flying Tigers bird. I generally prefer a more recent paint scheme but Warthogs 'look right' with the camo scheme.

There really is something about that shark mouth. Weather its on an A-10, F-4, UH-1C, F-14, hovercrafts, tanks, what have you, it'll sell!

Yeah, I just got the HM A-10A "MiL Killer" from Racers Den. The shark mouth was one of the reasons why I chose the scheme.

Re: Love those shark mouthes

Actually the AVG got the Shark mouth idea from pictures of British & Australian P-40's they saw in wartime magazines.
I saw a AVG pilot talking about this on one of the Military channel shows.

Re: Love those shark mouthes

The Luftwaffe even had some Bf 109s sporting a toothing grin a bit earlier.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Love those shark mouthes

It's a BF-109B or C, the B model was put into production in 1937. The type fist saw service in the Spanish civil war where it was flown by a handfull of Luftwafe pilots.
A interesting note about the 109, the first model (BF-109V1) was powered by a British Kestrel engine.
