Why no love for the latest TBF-1C?

I haven't seen much talk about this up coming TBF Avenger, but I just wanted to get people's opinions. I have it on pre-order and will hopefully get it soon. I think it looks great, I think HM should do more planes in this scheme (Atlantic, is it?). I'm a jets guy so I don't know too much about props, but HM is making it very tempting to dip even more into WWII planes. (Keep the jets coming, though!)

I just saw one at the IMPS/Dragon Expo. Looks very nice. I also have one on pre-order. I noticed HM has the rockets already installed on the wings of this one. Should look nice next to the Atlantic SBD and my Easy Model Atlantic FM-2.

I, too, have one on pre-order and would buy another in a similar scheme. I'd also like HM to put out another Atlantic scheme SBD---without the overdone panel lines and the wing flaps fixed in the open position.

I didn't occur to me that this plane doesn't have inked lines. I don't really mind them though, but it looks good both ways IMO.

It's a great model...I just received mine and will place it next to my "Atlantic" Dauntless. I think the subtle "shadows" produced by the delicate panel lines on this model are more realistic than the panel wash technique. Now we NEED a Devastator!

Re: Why no love for the latest TBF-1C?

I just spent an hour eating my lunch with my back up against the right main gear of a TBM painted in this scheme a couple of days ago. I had to get some shade out at Oshkosh, and The old TBM gave us plenty of that.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Was the "shade" produced by the panel lines? LOL

I picked up mine yesterday and LOVE it! The dark grey and light grey is a great scheme. I would recommend it for sure!

Mikeb, while you're taking pics of your other aircraft to post, can you do so with the TBF also?
