UH-1C preview

Hi,

A few photos of the UH-1C in flesh.

The engine is changed.

The position of the pitot tube is changed.

Larger elevator and slightly different tail section and diffferent weapon sets for this one.

Most important, it has the shark-mouth marking.

Re: UH-1C preview

It's really cool to see the "raw" product in the making, thanks.

Re: UH-1C preview

Awesome. This will be my first HM Huey. I'd love more Huey's since there's so many models and countries over the last forty years.

Re: UH-1C preview

Hi William the Main Rotor is different from a B model to a C model. In fact the M/R is what made the B into a C besides the bigger horizontal elevatorsThat was the biggest change. The B model had a oil head and the C went to a teflon bearing head called the 540 rotor hub. It still had a T703- L-11 engine. Later went to the -13 eng which made it a UH-1M. The screens on the engine cowling also went over the top to the other side. Yours has a big gap where there should be a screen. the screen should be continous. The top screen was hinged and held with two DZUS fastners. It swung open and then there was a latch
that you undid. You were then able to slide the cowlings out and up to gain access to the transmission. The two engine cowlings then swung aft and they had 1 small strap on each cowling that attached to the tailboom.
Just a note the 540 rotorhub was also used on the AH-1 Cobra G thru E,F.P and S. The main rotor blades were also wider and I can't remenber if they were shorter or the same lenght. The same blades apply to both the UH-1C/M and the AH-1.

Hopefully someone can post some photos from Squadrons Gunslingers in Action. They had close up photos of all of the above that I mentioned. hope this helps. Don't mean to be a pain.LM.

Hi,

I have made a comparsion of HM's rotor and the actual photo of a UH-1C (UH-1 in action p.14).

Would say they are over 90% alike in terms of appearance.

Re: UH-1C preview

Would we get a medivac one?
or one with no grenade launcher but perhaps open doors and side door gunners?
I'll be interested in one of those

Hi,

We probably need to wait a bit longer for the "D" (medevac) version to come since it requires some major modification.

Unhappy Re: UH-1C preview

I See A Lot Of Plastic!
The Cockpit Section Is (transparent) Plastic
The Tailboom Is Plastic; And So Is The Engine.
Isn't This Supposed To Be A 'diecast'model?

We need to use the plastic for the tailboom to make it sit properly (not a consideration of cost though).

For the engine parts, plastic usually make parts that can fit better because of the elasticity of it.
