Unhappy Phantom canopy

As someone who skipped first four Phantom releases due to wrong canopy hinges, although promised canopy alterations Jolly Rogers pre-pros show old ones - can we expect changes for J.E and future Phantoms...

My guess is that the already excellent but not perfect tooling will not be improved further.

William has said in the past that the hinges would be corrected but the corrected ones would appear in later runs after the Ritchie, Showtime 100, Blue Angels, etc. I would not put too much stock in what appears on a pre production model. As William has repeatedly told us in the past, they use old parts on these and they will not show the most up-to-date parts. Hopefully William will weigh in on all this.

Re: Phantom canopy

I read a post from William where he said that the single hinge was required to provide the proper strength for the canopy and that it would not be changed.

I remember that post too, but I am sure that William later posted that the Phantom canopy hinge was being corrected after all.

Are you sure he wasn't talking about the small window behind the front canopy that used to not exist on the pre-pro?

I found it. He was talking about the Blue Angel Phantom and said the hinge would be corrected after the release of the Blue Angel Phantom. Here is a link to his post:

Re: Phantom canopy

Hmmn. If they change the hinge, I wonder if they might do more VF-96 and Blue Angels planes. Showtime 112 is just as famous as Showtime 100, and there's 6 or 7 more Blue Angels to do...

Re: Phantom canopy

Well, if they fix the canopy hinges, their Phantom will be even closer to perfect!

Re: Phantom canopy

We have studied the possibilities of making changes of the canopy.

The double hinges will simply be too weak to hold the canopy (if it is movable).

Hence, in the meantime, there will be no change of it but I will continue to discuss with our engineers for another possible method.
