Attachment 11068

Hi,

This is made of some older parts. So the canopy will be fixed without the middle frame.

After some more research, the "bomb marks" should be black.

The front pitot tube angle should be horizontal.

These will be corrected during production.

Regret that I don't have time to take the photos myself.

It should include the MK117, the sidewinders, the fire bomber as extra.

William

Thumbs up Re: HM's F100D

I hope the attachment stubs on the front part of the windshield will be less obtrusive than the ones that can be seen
clearly on the F4 Phantom. My only complaint regarding the splendid F4!

That is looking very nice indeed -- I don't think I will regret passing along my MB version 'tal.

Re: HM's F100D

Hate to be a fly in the ointment, William, but those brown stripes adorning the engine panels look ... how do I put this—unrealistic. I don’t mean to be critical, and I realize this is only a pre-pro model. But as it stands, the lines resemble hard-core belts of rust, not scorched metal (compare your model to the real jets below).

Nice attempt, but it comes up short—know what I mean?

So, at the risk of provoking our local head hunters to violence (who will likely hand me my scalp), may I suggest that Hobby Master render the Super Sabre’s rear fuselage much more subtly, perhaps with diluted, feathered metallic browns and purples and blues—as opposed to stark brown lines. Or, barring that, eliminate the stripes altogether.

I know we’ve discussed this topic before, and if memory serves you mentioned your painting department can’t quite duplicate scorched metal. And I appreciate that. But for my money, burnt brownish-bluish metal augments the F-100's character. It kinda defines it.

So please, ditch those lines and try again. Anything would be an improvement.

Thanks.

Gort

Re: HM's F100D

Fair point Gort, and nicely illustrated -- I confess to not realizing that's what those stripes were meant to be when I looked at the pic.

Re: HM's F100D

William's reaction at DAF was

The burning mark should be considered as reasonable well for a mass production product (hand sprayed).

I don't mind it, and I'm sure it will look more subtle than that in person.

My point is, Chair’, that those lines aren’t “reasonable well.” Even if production models arrive with refined lines, they'll still look nasty—not at all what you'd expect from Hobby Master. They can do better. Much better.

Re: HM's F100D

Question For William:

I seem to remember the pitot on the hun folds up when on the ground, is there any intention to provide an 'up' and a 'down' version?

It's certainly a unique feature. Might be harder to break too!

Apologies if this has been answered already.
