Re: Robin Olds F-4C "Scat XXVII" ?

I am sorry to say that over on DAF I asked the same question about the Old's F4 but William said that he thought that the Scheme was to close to the Ritchie's F 4 so we would have to wait a while see post # 268

Well he likes it and personally I don't mind waiting. I need my 1/72 budget to grow again so hopefully we can see it in the future

JOHNNYBOY:

Well, the various Century Wings VF-84 "Jolly Rogers" F-14s really resemble each other a lot---and they sold out in a hurry.

It's true the Ritchie and Olds F-4s are similar, but Ritchie is Ritchie and Olds is Olds----I want BOTH. Hobby Master could add the Operation Bolo ecm pod on the Olds F-4, not to mention the "Scat XXVII" noseart.

I would buy a couple and make it known to all of the old River Rats who flew with him. Just do the research to make sure it is accurate as far as markings, loadout, etc. Easy to sell every one.

I like my Franklin Mint and Corgi ones, but would always buy another.

There's so many nice different schemes of F-4's to do. With so many requests, in the end, you are all going to bankrupt yourselves

This hobby is a long term enjoyment thing. I am sure it will come, let's just sit back and see what comes.
I think William and HM have a pretty good indication of our likes/dislikes. Just my .02

So many models, so little cash.

That's right Louie. They're coming, we just need wait. Let the diecast forces of the universe work.

Re: Robin Olds F-4C "Scat XXVII" ?

I've seen Franklin Mint's Robin Olds F-4C on backorder at several merchants, so it's apparently selling well regardless of its drawbacks (big fuselage gaps, no pilots, fixed landing gear) and higher price. I would think if there was a superior alternative, such as a Hobby Master version, it would sell even better. Again, people are buying it because it's Robin Olds' F-4.

Robin Olds F4 should be next !!

OK so we have two USN birds on the same mold, I highly recomend the next USAF one be Robin Olds F4. After this we can get into the other looks for USMC birds.
And hopefully, some long nosed IAF Phantoms and Wild Weasels.

See ya all in about 15 months!!

Re: Robin Olds F-4C "Scat XXVII" ?

William is on record as saying that this subject may be covered in the future...

This is a good one and I found Col. Olds story on the web. But this will be a bit to close with the Ritchie one. Perhaps we need to wait for a while.

I agree with Shawn 507... let the next USAF bird be a Robin Olds F-4C, and then bring on the USMC, Wild Weasel and IAF birds

Re: Robin Olds F-4C "Scat XXVII" ?

Certainly HM should release a Robin Olds F-4C...

but the USAF F-4 for me is an SEA shark-mouth job!

Nrrrm! Whoosh! Rat-tat-tat!
