Re: Pics: HA7301 - Grumman F3F-1, "Flying Barrel", USN VF-3

Hoo-boy,--- would a 1/48 scale Devastator look fabulous sitting in that picture next to the Buffalo and F3F or what? And while we're at it, I'll take an overall grey one to match my "Long Island " Buffalo, and I'll take a Battle of Midway "Torpedo Eight" version to go with my upcoming "Capt. Humbert Buffalo (along with my FM Dauntless and C1 Wildcat) and then I'll take a striped rudder"Coral Sea" version to go along with....oh well, you get the idea! So how about it , William? These pairings are too perfect to pass up, and producing a 1/48 Devastator makes perfect sense as far as continuing HM's theme of pre-war early war Naval aircraft in 1/48.
Happy collecting(and manufacturing)---------markko

I agree Markko....a Devastator would be a great addition and counterpart to the Kate. We need more in 1/48 scale.

There are a couple of recovery efforts if anyone is interested. No example still exists in the world. The Next Phase & The Champlin Museum is having a bit more trouble even with the support of Arizona senator McCain TBD-1 #0353 Location and Recovery

I just can't wait to get mine! I'll be getting both of these babies! This may be HM's best model yet...what do you think, Pappy?

I don't know -- I'm not an expert by any means on the F3F so hard for me to say it's super accurate, I'll leave that to those that are better qualified. My personal favorite HM model to date is the prewar 1:32 SBD Followed by the Ritchie Phantom... but I think they're on a bit of a roll lately.

I like it. Think this might be my second non-Franklin Mint in my collection.

Aeroeng, what do I read ?
Are you really missing out on the C1 Fw-190D and the EI Mustangs ( both 1:48 ) ?
Move on... I was also a FM/A-only collector untill I saw the light, although I must say thatr ecently I bought FM again since some models are OK ( Wildcat )

Great review on your site....I gotta say i just love how tight that rigging is on that model.
Looks like they did a outstanding job.

Sure, since HM seems to have mastered the rigging of 1/48 biplanes, please bring on more.... Swordfish, Gladiator, Cr.32 !

A Swordfish and a Gladiator would be most welcome. However, Corgi did both in 1/72 and I think both were among Corgi's better efforts. So, a 1/48 Swordfish or Gladiator would be most welcome. I have also suggested a 1/32 Swordfish, A 1/32 Swordfish would be an incredible and spectacular piece of diecast!

Would not mind seeing the Fiat Cr 42 also.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.
