Now look at that...Looks pretty close to scale to me...
Can't wait to add one of these or two of them.
Thanks for the pics Pappy.

Hoo-boy,--- would a 1/48 scale Devastator look fabulous sitting in that picture next to the Buffalo and F3F or what? And while we're at it, I'll take an overall grey one to match my "Long Island " Buffalo, and I'll take a Battle of Midway "Torpedo Eight" version to go with my upcoming "Capt. Humbert Buffalo (along with my FM Dauntless and C1 Wildcat) and then I'll take a striped rudder"Coral Sea" version to go along with....oh well, you get the idea! So how about it , William? These pairings are too perfect to pass up, and producing a 1/48 Devastator makes perfect sense as far as continuing HM's theme of pre-war early war Naval aircraft in 1/48.
Happy collecting(and manufacturing)---------markko

Hey Pappy, thank you VERY much for another great review and the photos! How do you get these models in advance?

Lanslide, take a look at diecastace.com, his comprehensive collection and reviews... nobody's doing what he's doing. I'm guessing it was natural for HM to send advance releases. So Pappy can photograph and review, and we can drool and discuss...

...let's just hope the reviews stay favorable then! I love seeing the photos of the actual model before I buy.

Thanks Ara -- that's essentially it Lanslide, in a nutshell..

And if you browse through the HM section you will see that not all the reviews are positive. I do try to call 'em as I sees 'em and if that means a vendor doesn't want to submit product for review in the future so be it. Sending a model does not in any way guarantee a positive result. I've been in the review business for a long time with a variety of consumer electronics publications. It is common practice for vendors to submit product for review -- most publications do not buy anything they review. I guess Diecastace is kind of a blend of that and Consumer Reports -- howver, 90% of what's on there I bought myself. ANd there is no advertising on my site nor do I think there ever will be. (I do hope to have the time to do a major overhaul and make it a bit more current, technically, but spare time is scarce these days.) HM's really the only vendor submitting product for coverage right now, anyone else is welcome to and they'd get the same treatment as anything I buy myself.

It's a hobby for me and something I enjoy doing to share my interest in diecast and hopefully provide some value to other collectors. I came up with the idea as I'm a magazine guy and there really wasn't any resources out there, at least when I started, that reviewed this stuff. So this was sort of a way to add to what folks like Tri were doing in terms of cataloging collections (man, I would love to see his loft!)

Sounds good to me. I would be in for a few Devastators. Coral Sea, Marshall Islands (Level bomber variant), Midway and a prewar variant too.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.
