Re: Beaufighter Prototype

I think 1:72 is fine for the Beaufighter - 1:48 and you're going to get into the $50-100 price range considering the size of the thing.

Hobby Master should stick with smaller subjects to cover in 1:48 to keep the price down and sales up.

Re: Beaufighter Prototype

Too many scales just dilutes their efforts and reduces new molds in 1:72 which seems to be the primary scale.

Century Wings had it right until they announced the 1:144 which are just a repeat, why bother!

Re: Beaufighter Prototype

This is going to be a great model!

Please stay with 1/72 for this model...even though I know the 1/48 collectors deserve their share of offerings. The mruth of the tatter is, however, we can get two 1/72 Beaus for the price of one 1/48 versions. For some of us (maybe most), with prices rising rapidly, this has become a critical, even decisive, factor. In the future, 1/72 molds may become any model producer's key to making sales and staying in business.

Re: Beaufighter Prototype

A Bristol Beaufighter would bring tears to my eyes to see up on the shelf with the rest of my air force - but more so if it comes with aircrew!

I'd definitely be in for at least two, but given my weakness for kites such as the Mossie I'd probably stretch to four if the subjects were right, and there are a lot of options (wasn't there an anti-shipping version with a 6-pr gun in the nose or am I hallucinating?).

I'm a 1/72 scale guy through and through, so that would be the preferred scale for me.

Re: Beaufighter Prototype

I hate scale wars (this scale vs. that scale) and won't be participating in that kind of talk anymore. I've fought it long and hard, and it's a no-win war. I'll say this, I hope this model does well so Hobby Master stays strong.

Wise thoughts, Ara. I've reached the same conclusion myself.

Re: Beaufighter Prototype

As far as I'm aware Gary the Mossie was the one with 57 MM Molins (6pdr) gun. It was used very successfully by Coastal Command and known as the 'Tsetse'.

I'm looking forward to a RAAF version which replaced the 6 wing mounted .303s with 4 .50 calibres giving it the same 'wallop' as the P-61 Black Widow.

Re: Beaufighter Prototype

Beaufighter in 1/72nd scale would be fine by me, look good next to my Bf 110s.

Re: Beaufighter Prototype

Been waiting for a definitive Beaufighter diecast (other than the IXO model) to finally be made...thanks for the teaser William!

Re: Beaufighter Prototype

I'm primarily a 1:48 guy, but I'll accept the Beaufighter in 1:72.

Just make sure that I-16 is in 1:48, and I'll be happy.
