Cool Re: Beaufighter Prototype

This is awesome news! Thank you HM & William!! You can't believe how long l've been waiting for a Beaufighter. WOW!!! Someone pinch me! Economics have dictated a big cut in my budget and there are some new model releases that l haven't yet bought. This certainly isn't one of them! I'm definitely in for a few of these. I wonder whether a SAAF one is on the cards?

Re: Beaufighter Prototype

Very impressive, William. This should be a real winner for HM.

Agreed, there are many versions to be made and many great schemes possible..

Re: Beaufighter Prototype

I say, let's see it in 1/48th scale.

Thanks for posting the pics William the Beaufighter will fill important gaps in many collections mine included like the H M Bf110 I will probably buy all issues of "Whispering Death".

Re: Beaufighter Prototype

Well, I'm beginning to wonder if us 1/48 collectors are going to see any new molds in our scale---I'm beginning to feel as if HM has forsaken our segment of the market. For 2008 we have seen only 2 new molds ( Panther and F3F-1) and 2 modified molds (late model Buffalo and F3F-2), while a myriad of new molds have been announced in the already saturated 1/72 scale by HM. While I envy the wonderful fortune of 1/72 collectors, I become more and more disappointed that a lot of the new molds in 1/72 are models that I would love to have seen in 1/48 (and haven't been done previously by another manufacturer), Franklin Mint typically does only 2 new 1/48 molds per year; Carousel only recently added 1 new mold which conceivably could be their last, and Eagles is apparently getting out of the 1/48 business "until further notice". This leaves a wide open oppurtunity for HM to step in and totally dominate the 1/48 segment, yet they seem to show no enthusiasm for pursuing this lucrative oppurtunity. To have William post photos of a much desired Beaufighter prototype in 1/48 scale and then proclaim that the model model will actually be produced 1n 1/72 is almost too much for a dedicated 1/48 guy to bear.
A disenchanted 1/48 collector indeed---markko

Markko, I feel your pain, but suspect the number of new 1/72 molds versus new 1/48 molds just reflects the size of each respective market. Every profit making business goes where the money is. The Hobby Master 1/48 models are wonderful and I understand why you want more. Because of Hobby Master I now have a pre-war 1/48 shelf in the display cabinet near the WW 1 1/48 models. But 1/72 is my main scale, and it will always be ten time larger than my 1/48 holdings.

Re: Beaufighter Prototype

Regarding 1/48 scale I had high hopes and I am a bit disappointed that until now there seems to be too many shortcuts in HM quarter scale line. Details are slowly but surely improving thanks to Williams outstanding service but I expected much more activity in that line, I did not think they will ever come close in their output to 1/72 line but I hope that HM will step up with new moulds output...of course none of these things will stop me from buying Beaufighters even in 1/72 scale. Please more RAF/FAA subjects regardless of scale.

Re: Beaufighter Prototype

Could you release a few in 1:48 scale? BTW, what is HM's future 1:48 scale projects?

I am fully behind you Aeroeng.
William, what are the prospects of doing this beauty in 1:48 ?

No way! William, stay with the 1:72 and 1:32 scales.
