Re: F-104 Paul : German F-104G's at Luke AFB,AZ

The Photo supplied by Hawkonevoodoo shows the actual F-104G of the print. I can't see the underside of the horizonal stab,But the port side fuel tank has the same colors on the verticle fin of the tank So how about it Hawk? what about this F-104G for a Hobbymaster liverey? It would go great with my print.LM

All I can do is submit it for consideration so you can consider it sent to HM.

Re: F-104 Paul : German F-104G's at Luke AFB,AZ

I dont think those are German colors under the tail.
It looks like the artist is trying express shadow, shading & reflective effects on the underside of the aircraft.
If you look close you will see some of the same red on the bottom of the aircraft as well.

They look like stripes to me. Could be just a squadron marking thing

Re: F-104 Paul : German F-104G's at Luke AFB,AZ

OK...Found this picture at the following website http://www.916-starfighter.de/Large/Luke/63-13243.htm

It's a picture of the plane in the print (13243,) however, no stripes under the horizontal stabs. Though they are on the leading edge of the tail and the tip tanks. Now, this plane very well could have had the stripes at some point in time and I still believe the print shows stripes on the stabs, as well as the leading edge. Either way, I think this one would look very nice!

Re: F-104 Paul : German F-104G's at Luke AFB,AZ

F-104 Pual where are you? I totally agree this would make one nice Starfighter. The Picture hawkonevoodoo posted doesn't have the tricolors on the leading edge of the verticle fin. I looked alittle more closely at my print and I think I can just make out the colors on the leading edge.
On a simular note just got my Taiwan F-104 from Onmark. I love it! Has anyone tried modifing the sidewinders to the outboard wings? I really need to find a refueling probe for my C models. also the squadron shop has a ladder for a F-104 in 1/72 as well as paint stencils.

Re: F-104 Paul : German F-104G's at Luke AFB,AZ

Germany based F-104s out of Luke...

German AF started the F-104 transition course 65 - H in Oct. 1964 based in Luke AFB - Arizona:

2.DtLwAusbSt.,
Luke AFB
Feburary 1964 - March 1983
269.750 h

Regarding your print I can say that it indeed was a german F-104.

Yes that is the correct tail number in the print. However it doesn't have the undersides of the horizontal stab painted in the colors of the German flag.
Notice the wing tanks have the colors painted on the fins and also the leading edge of the tail. What do you think?
