Re: Ritchie/Cunningham F-4s discontinued?

If they stop producing Showtime 100 because of Cunningham's post war activities, then I'd be real disappointed in HM. I got mine because I respect what he and his backseater pulled off in that F4. I could care less about anything else he has done.
Afterall, I'm not collecting each pilot's personal auto in diecast either. But if the PC cops have forced HM or anyone else to pulled the plug, then this hobby is in trouble.
And its so easy to judgemental, when noone is looking in your personal business!

Hobby Master has not halted production of "Showtime 100" due to "Cunningham's post war activities". It has been halted, but only because they completed the 2000 plane production run as is normally the case with Hobby Master. They make a run and then they move on to other schemes and airplanes. The same thing has happened with Ritchie. It has nothing to do with Cunningham and what he did or did not do after the war.

I still respect what Cunningham did while serving as a Naval Aviator. As far as I am concerned, he served more than honorably. While I have no use for crooked politicians, I do respect him for how he never tried to duck responsibility for what he did, cooperated with the authorities, accepted what was dealt out to him and expressed sincere regrets over the whole affair. I wish other politicians would display similar backbone and character when confronted by their own questionable activity. Yes, I still respect Duke Cunningham and will not take "Showtime 100" off the shelf.

I second that motion - political chatter will get this thread locked.

I consider myself fortunate to have gotten one of the Ritchie Phantoms before they started disappearing. I'm going to pre-order new F-4s as soon as they're available to make sure I don't miss the boat... especially if they release any F-4Gs or Israeli F-4s.

Re: Ritchie/Cunningham F-4s discontinued?

Well, I just ordered my Ritchie and Cunningham F-4s.

I'm really looking forward to Hobby Master's USAF Vietnam shark-mouth F-4E:

My remarks were made after reading an article about mr.C.( http//www.acepilots.com/vietnam/cunningham.html)
I'm sorry for starting this political debate and thereby offending some of you.
Will stick to planes&pilots in the future.

Re: Ritchie/Cunningham F-4s discontinued?

I think Racers Den Collectables still has stock. Just ordered from them. I think the Ritchie and Showtime are also available at Monkey Depot.

Thanks for the info. Appreciate it.

I got my 2 F-4s from The History Store---they were cheaper than Monkeydepot, et al.

Hey, hey...you're right Dragon 53. Thanks for the info! I see that they have a very good collection of diecasts, figurines, history books and DVDs on offer. Looks like I'll be spending a lazy Sunday afternoon camping on their website to see what I can get from them.
