Re: Ritchie/Cunningham F-4s discontinued?

Whats all the fuss about, the way everyone goes on and on about Hobby Master

I got my 1:32 HM SBD last month and what a dissapointment when I compare it to my GMPs.

The SBD is only worth $70, certainly not $160.

Put them side by side and the SBD isn't even in their league.

I had my issues with GMP but I sure miss them.

Woa, not so fast buddy! I respect your opinion but I beg to differ. My 1:32 HM pre-war SBD IS definitely
in the league with GMP's best. Pound for pound, the details are simply amazing! I am definitely very satisfied
with mine. When the GMP birds first came out, the suggested retail price was in the "150 dollar" range, if I'm
not mistaken? Now they can be had for $50, and I seriously doubt we will ever see HM's 1/32nd birds will
suffer that same price fate. It is very clever of HM to do limited runs of the big scaled birds and not repeat GMP's
mistake.

Maybe HM took them of the shelves after they found out that our hero is a convicted felon!
No need to glorify corrupt politicians!

If you've ever carried a $20 bill around you've glorified a corrupt politician in the eyes of 1000s of Native Americans but that doesn't stop me and Cunningham's subsequent crimes don't stop me from displaying his Phantom in 2 scales either. Heck, I even enjoy Columbus Day!

The Showtime 100's run is 2,000pcs. It is sold out within days and I believe it is a much beloved aircraft all over the world.

And that's why I carry €uro's. BTW, I was just kidding; I also have Cunningham's F4 on my shelves, and I love it!
Politicians in Europe are even worse; just think about Napoleon and Hitler!

A couple of points on this-- the fact that Cunningham later pled guilty to crimes does not erase his accomplishments during the Vietnam war. Also, there was a fellow in his backseat who was also credited with the kills-- Willie Driscoll. As far as I know, Driscoll has never been convicted of anything.

Finally, as repugnant as Cunningham's crimes were, I find myself feeling a bit of respect for Cunningham as he was convicted and packed off to prison. Why? Well, he willingly admitted his crimes, cooperated with authorities and expressed regret over what he had done. He did not try to escape or minimize what had happened. It impressed me that he was willing to acknowledge his wrongdoing and step up and take his lumps. In an era when most crooked politicians will minimize or fight tooth and nail any charges or allegations of criminality, I found Cunningham's response to this a somewhat refreshing part of what was otherwise a very sordid affair.

So, I guess I will continue to happily display my "Showtime 100", and will do so without any hesitation.

Unhappy Re: Ritchie/Cunningham F-4s discontinued?

He was elected because of his achievements during the Vietnam war ; then he blew it.
He also took his punishment like a man.Still I can't feel any sympathy for this hero turned politician.
I feel sorry for those who voted for him and trusted him!!

I can't say that I feel any sympathy towards him either. He did what he did and got what he deserved. I do respect him for stepping forward, acknowledging his wrongdoing and "taking his punishment like a man". Additionally, as far as I am concerned, his achievements during the Vietnam War still stand-- no one can take those away from him.

You're absolutely right! Especially considering all the tricks in the book the present Commander in Chief used
to stay out of Vietnam; but that's another "politician'.
