Lightbulb What is the first naval helicopter Hobby Master should release?

Here's my third (and last) poll for today - we've covered the edge of the sword & the cargo-haulers. Now on to the naval choppers, of which there are many!

Re: What is the first naval helicopter Hobby Master should release?

When it comes to choppers, I prefer my in Russian. Anyway, Helix is small enough with plenty of Western (Canada, South Korea, Portugal, Swiss, etc.) liveries.

Sergey

Re: What is the first naval helicopter Hobby Master should release?

I was going to vote for the CH-53 in cargo haulers but this works too. There are already plans by MRC Easy Hobby to do the CH-47 Chinook, the UH-1/AH-1 series, SH-60 Sea Hawks, SH-3 Sea Kings, SA.365 Dolphins. They already have the CH-46 Sea Knight and UH-34 Choctaws out. Although they aren't in diecast at least their on the 1/72 market. In the US Navy/Marines that only really leaves the CH-53 Sea Stallion and after the "flying banana" I would give my pinky toe on my left foot for a CH-53 as the community and I are hurting real bad. How bad you might ask? Everyone I know that loves the CH-53 went out and bought the $30 Transformer "Blackout" but not great detail or scale simply because it was a MH-53 Pave Low. Hobby Master could do all of its various models, from the standard CH-53A Sea Stallion, CH-53D Sea Stallion, RH-53D mine hunter which was also bought by Iran, the German GH-53D, the CH-53D Yas'ur 2000 used by Israel and other varients used by Austria and Mexico. Theres also the CH-53E which has three engines and also the biggest and heaviest helicopter in the US Military. It can haul the LAV-25, 155mm howitzers and recover any USMC aircraft except for the C-130. It took over naval mine sweeping as the MH-53 Sea Dragon which Japan bought for its JMSDF. The CH-53E Sea stallion will be replaced by the CH-53K in the near future

Now for the Air Force. The USAF had the HH-53B and C Super Jolly Green Giant which saw extensive action in Vietnam rescuing downed airmen but one of the main differences in appearance than the USN/USMC version is an in flight refueling probe. The USAF bought the CH-53C for general load hauling and for spec ops teams including the rescue at Son Tay POW camp in North Vietnam and the crew of the SS.Mayaguez. It might be interesting to know that a Super Jolly Green Giant was shot down by a Mig-21 doing CSAR over Laos. 9 HH-53C were upgraded with electronics and renamed the MH-53H Pave Low. Later some were upgraded to the MH-53J Pave Low III which we know it now for picking up and dropping off special forces behind enemy lines and MH-53M Pave Low IV's which were more command and control versions. So theres many variants and countries that worked with them over the last 40 years. Hopefully one will come to our 1/72 world in the furture.

Does MRC plan on releasing their helos you mentioned as pre-built models, or DIY kits?

Re: What is the first naval helicopter Hobby Master should release?

This poll is a tough one! I think the SH-2 Seasprite would make a nice spot in the collection. The blue will certainly stand out among all the gray.

If multiple votes were allowed, I would opt for the SH-3 Sea King, CH-46 Sea knight, CH-53 Sea Stallion, and the SH-60 Seahawk.

I don't know too much on MRC but I think its pre-built. Its listed under the "Easy Model". I found a German link of items their putting out I think for 2007-2008 including jets. Link is here Die Sammlerseite für Flugzeug- und Panzermodelle - Easy Model
