Buffalo survives 2 foot fall

Hi Guys,

Just came back from a vacation with a story to tell. I posted this thread on another site but had it moved to here as I know y'all a bit better and don't want to post it twice.

I brought one of my HM Buffalos on vacation with me and the wife, so as to have a bit of home in the rented condo in the seaport town of Ogunquit, Maine. I kept HA7005 USS , Lexington 2-F-16 close at hand as it's a beautiful model. It's also out of print and looks quite nice with its yellow wings and yellow cowl, fuselage, and wing stripes.

The I did a bad thing. I had the plane on my night stand near my bed and went to shut the light off. I tilted the table a bit to reach the lampstalk lightswitch and bam! the Buffalo took a very loud 2 foot diver to the floor.

Nothing broke. NOTHING, no bent props, no disjoined canopy, no farged landing gear or bent pitot tube. The bombs didn't even drop off!

What a machine!

Re: Buffalo survives 2 foot fall

Hello Ara, that is a happy ending for you.And thank HM for their good quality!

Maybe I should try and take my 1/48 F/M B-24 Coastal Command with me on my next trip.See how long it takes before my better half reacts.

Ara, you are lucky. Next time, make your wife get out of bed and turn off the lights.

Yikes! That Buffalo was guarded like it was made out of gold!!! Her view is, "You have 3 others just like this."

Ha! It's four others just like this.

Re: Buffalo survives 2 foot fall

Good to hear the Buffalo is safe after the fall. You pretty much know how I feel about the Buffalo and would hate to see one get banged up.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Hiya Hornchurch! Greetings to you as well old friend!

It is my opinion that anyone who enters a vacation with an F2A should consider that vacation over before it's started.

But in all seriousness, I think I will be bringing a diecast on every vacation I go on here on out. I love having planes around, and HM's packaging make for easy transport.

How this model did not even snap a prop is miraculous. How does a plane fall and not incur damage? It hit with a crash.
