You may need to fiddle with the setting of the clamp -- how tight to make it... for a bit. But once you get it right it holds it pretty securely -- not as securely perhaps as the Witty model it's meant for, but it does the job. I've had my Ritchie in the Tomcat stand for over a month now with no "crash and burns".
However, proceed with caution.. I did have a few "misshaps" when I was first trying it out. I got a bit aggressive with the bank angle and didn't have the fit tight enough to hold it. Thanfully, the Phantom is a tough bird.  |
Yeap I agree! Don't be over aggressive with the bank angle. Because the stand slides in more than actually clamp into the engines. Especially with big heavier birds like the F-14, F-4 and Dragon F/A-18 Super Hornets. You're really pitching a battle between gravity and the clamp. If the angle is too steep, gravity wins

But even at a bank angle like mine, the clamp is holding the line
