HM FW-190 Poll

Since it appears HM may be creating a 1/32 Butcher Bird, and in light of William's comment the budget for the project is approved as well as the debate of preference for 1/32 or 1/48, a poll seems in order. It is reasonable to conclude HM could switch gears and go the 1/48 scale route. They really listen to us so let's let them know what we think.

I would buy a 1/32 Fw, but probably only just one (unless it is like GMP). I would also be happy with a 1/48 bird and would probably buy more than one. So, let's vote and let William know what we prefer, and if the consensus is for 1/48 perhaps the project can switch scale.

Re: HM FW-190 Poll

We've already got one in 1:48 from FM (okay it has some issues) and 21st Century (albeit plastic, but people seem to like it). I want to see HM continue to try to revive, grow the 1:32 scale and think there is opportunity there with Corgi and GMP getting out of the way. Give me a nice 190 in 1:32, with a stand, for about $150 and I'm in for one or two. And I think this is the model most wanted to see Corgi do next in 1:32, too. (?)

Though, that said, I'd much rather see a Corsair in 1:32 next, than the 190 -- it would go nicely with the SBD (The choice of 190 is sort of strange to me as I would think a thematic approach might be more appealing to get people into the scale, but then again, casting a wider net with something completely different from the SBD may be the more logical approach) -- but I haven't given up hope of seeing one eventually!

Re: HM FW-190 Poll

My preference regarding the FW-190 is clearly 1:48th scale rather than 1:32nd, which I probably wont buy. Carousel 1"s "Dora" has already demonstrated how much detail you can deliver in 1:48th. I don't see why we need to go larger.

Re: HM FW-190 Poll

I posted this as a response on the UK forum, but I think it applies here as well..

I think there is a far better market for the 190A in 1/48 than in 1/32, especially given the resurgence of the 1/48 market over the last year. This market is screaming for a quality Fw190A to knock off the terrible Franklin mint version.
The 1/32 Fw190 may do well in the UK and international markets, but considering the price, don't expect it to surpass the SBD in the US which, until now, had not been done in large scale and was completely new. No matter what folks may say, HM will have competition in the US from 21st because their Fw-190 F and A versions are awesome (far better than previous models), and their details are close to model quality. Plus, the market in the US is not what it was 6 months ago.
I just think a high-dollar piece for the US market is a bad move given the state of the economy.

Bring it on in 1/48!

Re: HM FW-190 Poll

I voted 1/48. The FM/Armour 190s are not very good really and I like mine, if that makes sense. I would sell them in a minute to get a good one and pay the 1/48 HM Spitfire price gladly. $45-$50 is fine. $125-150 for a 190 in 1/32 is too much and I'd rather have 3 in 1/48 than 1 in 32nd scale. I don't have room really.
I like the idea of the 190 as the next choice though.

In 1/48 I would buy 4-5 maybe.

In 32nd only 1 maybe.

Harry is right in my book, the 21st Century ones are too good for $15 for me to buy one for $100 I think.

My sentiments exactly. Bring on the 1/32 Butcher Bird!!!!!!

Re: HM FW-190 Poll

I have limited space and therefore no interest in the 1:32 scale models. I also prefer the intricate 1:72 scale models as it amazes me how these smaller models can be so accurate. I know there is much more that can be done with larger models but the 1:48 is as large as I will go but that's just me.

I would like to think that HM will make some of these planes (FW 190, Spit XIV, Super Spit, etc.) in 1:72 scale. I believe they would really sell and I do not see why these very attractive models should be limited to the larger scales. I can why the FW 190 may be limited to the larger scales as so many have been done in 1:72. The more unique HM models could be done in 1:72 and if HM does not fill this need they leave the door open for Corgi to make 1:72 versions of the more unique HM models.

Again, I admit I'm partial to 1:72 but have bought several HM 1:48 models.

Thumbs up Re: HM FW-190 Poll

I cannot see HM doing Spits and FW190s in 1/72 scale, I think the market is well served already Airblake.
Corgi Dragon and Gemini seem to have a hold on those, however a 1/32 Butcher Bird would be awesome.

If HM could put in the detail that GMP has with their range then I think there would just about be enough sales to make it worth doing.

An FW190A would be good for me but if they did the 190D Cardinal would be pushing past us all to buy out the whole stock . (HM please note).

Just joking Cardo.

Re: HM FW-190 Poll

I would consider buying a good 1:48 scale diecast model of the 190 at some point. 21st Century is a reasonable option for me but I do prefer metal. I would never buy a 1:32 scale model. Cost and size make 32nd scale a "no go" for me.

Re: HM FW-190 Poll

An FW 190A in 1:48 would be awesome. Anything to save us from the Franklin Mint.
