| HA1920 F-4J Phantom, No.74 Sqn RAF Yes - another Hobbymaster Phantom thread!!! I have just ordered this beauty and keen to know what interest there is amongst fellow collectors and Phantom phans. As you will know this is a 1000 model release and produced for Tiger Hobbies in the UK. A couple of other UK dealers were selling them also, including Flying Tigers and Jumblies. I have just ordered mine from Jumblies, the other dealers have now sold out although Tiger Hobbies have 100 with damaged boxes which will be sold later in the year when their new replacement boxes arrive. Like many others I have fallen in love with my first HM F-4 (Ritchie) and scored the last Cunningham in stock from OMI last week. I have the German & JR birds on pre-order from Pete's. For those of you thinking about the Tiger Meet F-4 my advice is to act fast! The cost: after VAT is taken off it came to £23.78 + £11.50 for postage to NZ (same for US). Using todays exchange rate on XE this comes to $70.36 US. Photo courtesy of Hawk's website. ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: HA1920 F-4J Phantom, No.74 Sqn RAF Now voted for,I have only seen one other of the HM Phantoms but this one I think is the best all the way down to the tinted armour on the windscreen.I know it is very popular over here and has almost sold out, a friend of mine called in the other day,he usualy builds large scale aircraft and has a 1/32 J(UK) in the works but when he saw the HM he went straight on to the net and bought one as he was so impressed. | |||||||||||||

I reckon you're dead-right, smartd. Whether it would prejudice the votes, we'll never know Great-Shame it was NEVER included.... till after about 40 odd votes had ALREADY been cast. The scheme looks a LITTLE 'Tarty' for me; I'd much rather have seen a 'plain-Jane' 74-Sdqn F.4 I used to spend MUCH of my spare time driving to Wattisham to photo' these actual planes On one occasion a 74 Squadron F.4-J taxied past as I was filming with my VCR, & the back seater was waving to my wife, as the Canopies were 'Up' whilst taxi-ing back to the hardstand. The Port-wingtip was SO CLOSE to the fence you could almost reach out & touch, as it taxied past at about 20mph !!!!!! (you could have lobbed an Orange into the F.4's cockpit, it was so-close) Those were the days (the Base-radar ALWAYS interfered with my VCR-Tapes, making a 'Click' & pop, every 20-30 seconds). As 56 Squadron Phantoms shared Wattisham with 74 Squadron AT THE SAME TIME..... I'd be even happier IF (at a later-date) 'H.M' released a 56 Sqdn 'Firebird' FGR.2 with a Red-Tail (like XV.424). (I'm typing from memory, so I HOPE I got the serial right ?) | ||||||||||||||
