A Dancing Partner for Showtime 100

Now that I have HM's "Showtime 100" sitting here on my office desk, I REALLY think that HM just has to produce a 1/72 MiG-17 in the livery of the mythical/legendary "Col. Tomb"! William, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give consideration to this possibility. I believe a MiG-17 would sell very well, and a Col. Tomb version would be a must-have for many collectors IMO.

Re: A Dancing Partner for Showtime 100

...what paint scheme would a "mythical Col. Tomb" plane have?

I absolutely second your suggestion, ac4313! Don’t know about Col. Tomb’s camo scheme; any Mig-17 HM issued would be fine with me. Oh, yeah!!!

Re: A Dancing Partner for Showtime 100

They're not Mig 17's but Corgi had a couple of North Vietnamese Mig 21's in their "Predators" line. Reportedly, these were Hobby Master Mig 21's issued under the Corgi name. While Cunningham and "Showtime 100" shot down only Mig 17's on that famous day in May 1972, including the mythical "Col. Tomb", I believe that all of Steve Ritchie's kills were North Vietnamese Mig 21's. So, one of these Mig 21's would be appropriate as a "dancing partner" for the Steve Ritchie F-4D.

A 1/72nd MiG-17 in North Vietnamese AF scheme (even if not the Col. Tomb's markings) would make a great dancing partner for Showtime 100! It takes two to tango.

I'm not really big on Russian birds except for the Fulcrum and Flanker, but ac4313's suggestion seems pretty good. I'm fine with any paint scheme for the MiG-17.

Re: A Dancing Partner for Showtime 100

Shoot, it would be nice just to have a Mig 17. So many good paint schemes possibilities with this aircraft.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Yes I absolutely agree! We could have some nice MiG-17 liveries from the Syrian, Egytian and any of the other players in the mideast conflicts.

Re: A Dancing Partner for Showtime 100

Here are some examples from Osprey's "MiG-17 and MiG-19 units of the Vietnam War".

Along the VPAF MiG-21 from Corgi, this silver MiG-17 looks nice.
