HM vs. Dragon 1/72 F-6 Hellcat

For any of those that have knowledge of both models, how do they compare to each other? I am thinking of purchasing a Hellcat and any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Stick with Hobby Master. Several of dragon's Hellcats have major gap issues where the rear of the canopy is supposed to slide back over the fuselage.

Re: HM vs. Dragon 1/72 F-6 Hellcat

No, stick with Dragon!

Actually, both Dragon and Hobby Master Hellcats are pretty good, IMHO, and I'd say get the one with the livery you like best.

I have Dragon's first F6F, the sharkmouth VF-27 "White 9" (DRW50235), and HM's Vraciu VF-6 F6F "Gadget" (HA1104). I think the fit and finish on Dragon's Hellcat give it a slight edge over the HM Hellcat -- again, IMHO. The "gap" behind the canopy on the Dragon bird never bothered me, whereas the seam on the HM bird does. Slightly. On the plus side, the Vraciu Hellcat comes with the goofy Vraciu action figure, so that's a plus...

Sorry to disagree, but that gap on the Dragon model's rear canopy really bugs me. I guess that the best solution is to examine the pictures posted on the Flying Mule's site for both HM and Dragon Hellcats and see if the latter's gap is bothersome. If not, and you like the livery, by all means buy whatever Dragon F6F that pleases you.

You're right, I especially like the one with the sharks/cats/whatever it is type of mouth and eyes on the cowling.

I have that Princeton Hellcat and it is one of my favorites.
I have all three makers Hellcats and to be honest, I can't tell much difference between the three other than the Predator Hellcats don't have the prop steciling. That is really no big deal either since the prop stenciling wasn't always present.

Thanks Bruno !

I liked 'em SO MUCH, I even bought loads of 'em in 1/48th (Franklin-Mint) for THE SAME money as 'H.M's 1/72nd offering !

They were literally a 'Gift' at that money ($30) !!!!!!!!!!
