Lightbulb Raised F-4 Rear Seat

Just went ahead and modified the rear seat of the F-4D so that the Wizzo can see outside:

To accomplish this I did the following:
  • Gently removed the rear seat using a pair of tweezers.
  • Placed a ball of blu-tac underneath the seat (in the cavity beneath). The ball of blu-tac should be large enough so that it will bulge out a little from the bottom of the seat. This will raise the height of the seat. It doesn't matter if the seat sticks out of cockpit at first because once you lower the canopy the seat will go down owing to the pliable nature of blu-tac. Just make sure that you don't go overboard using the blu-tac otherwise the seat won't go down once you close the canopy.
  • I also placed a small ball of cotton underneath the butt of the Wizzo so that he becomes sandwiched between the ejection seat handles and the seat bottom. This raises the height of the Wizzo in the seat. You can bend the overhead ejection seat handles upward a bit (be careful) so that the Wizzo can be higher in the seat than is normally possible.
I suggest placing the Wizzo in the seat before placing the seat back in the cockpit. I found this easier though it depends on your own preference.

Thank you for helping the Wizzo.

That's nothing as compared to what you and HM are giving to diecast collectors worldwide. Thanks William for giving us and continuing to give us great models! You and HM are definitely tops in my book!

Re: Raised F-4 Rear Seat

You're welcome JP! johnnyboy also did this mod for his HM Phantoms but instead of using blue tack he used UHU woodglue.
