Re: Suggested schemes for HM Fw-190A8?

I would have to go with an Fw 190A-8/R11 Nachtjager, it would definitely be model that would stand out in a collection. Did a little digging and here is what I found about the Fw 190A-8. Sounds like the A-8 model improved on the A-7 model by having a 115 liter which could contain fuel, nitrogen-dioxide for GM-1 or water/methanol for the MW50 power boost. It also had new electronics with FuG16ZY, FuG25a IFF and a Molane antenna (Strange downward pointing antenna on the port wing). I also thing the Ramjager version would make for a good looking model too.

You have that book Joey ?
If you do can you check to see if they have a A8 in Graf's markings ?
JP

Negative. Looking at another reference book it shows an Fw-190A-5 variant with Graf's markings only.

I think those markings were associated with an A-5 model.

Re: Suggested schemes for HM Fw-190A8?

Well not really...It was more of a personal choice i think when William made a remark on it in another thread...You know Cardo starting it by saying he wants to see a Fw190A and the next thing you know William said he likes the Fw190A8 himself....He put's that 8 in there.......So some may take that as a hint.....
So now as you know that can spread like wildfire in the diecast world.
JP

Thanks for the clarification. I sure hope they make this one.

Re: Suggested schemes for HM Fw-190A8?

A bit off topic, but still relevant, what's the difference between a 190A and a 190G? I ask because this would make a heck of a model in what I believe is an Fw 190G.

Re: Suggested schemes for HM Fw-190A8?

Have you notice so many German fighters have a Yellow bottom panel.
Why is that ? For the AA gunners ?
Thanks for the Tip.
JP

Yellow bottom panel was for quick recognition purposes. Not sure if it also might have served for anti aircraft recognition too.

Looks like the Fw 190G was based on the A models series and was intended to be a long range fighter bomber. This role did not seem to pan out very good with the Allied air superiority. Looks like one of the major differences between the G and the A model is that the G model had out board wing and it's cowling armament removed to allow for weight of fuel and ordinance.

According to the descriptions given on Histoire & Collections: Focke Wulf Fw 190, below are the Fw 190G versions/variants:

Fw 190G-1

Long-range fighter-bomber (Jabo Rei) Based on the A-4.
Cowling mounted guns removed, central-mounted wing
cannon removed. Ventral ETC 501 pylon. Extra underwing
tanks similar to those on the Ju-87. Certain parts had
extra armour as on the Fw 190F

Fw 190G-2

Same as the G-1 but based on the A-5 with different pylons
and tanks (similar to those on the Me 110)

Fw 1909G-3

Identical to the G-1 but based on the F-6 and equipped with
faired ETC 501 wing pylons for bombs or extra tanks

Fw 190G-8

Long-range fighter-bomber based on the A-8. Rounded
canopy. No fuselage guns but the bulged cowling retained.
Central wing cannon removed. Ventral ETC 501 and underwing
ETC 503 pylons.
