Hobby Master Considering F-89, F-102, F-105 and F-106?

Judging by various posts by HM's William on the UK forum, Hobby Master's ongoing development of a Jet fighter/bomber weapons set would be useful for "future" F-89s, F-102s and F-106s. Asked about the F-105, William indicated that this plane would be given "priority" due to its extensive VietNam duty.

Obviously this is not a firm "go" for these much wanted warbirds, however, this sort of dialog shows what HM may be thinking about regarding 2009 new product development. Sounds encouraging, doesn't it?

Sorry, Johnnyboy, I didn't know you had already brought this to our attention. In any event,I hope they also consider an F-111.

Re: Hobby Master Considering F-89, F-102, F-105 and F-106?

Mk82 and Mk84 bombs would be most welcome for ALL planes. They've been used by almost every US fighter/bomber from Vietnam until now.

Honestly, the main problem with 1/72 diecast weapons are usually not the weapons themselves, but the launchers/rails/pylons they attach to---or lack thereof. Century's A-7 has a Shrike rail permanently molded to the outer pylon---which makes in impossible to put anything BUT a Shrike there. Dragon has the same problem with HARM rails molded onto their F-16 and Super Hornets.

Of course, if you have no rails, then you can't carry any missiles (except very large ones like Harpoon). The main thing is to make rails/launchers separate/removable----from both the weapons themselves, and the planes.

The only example I've seen of that is Century's F-14. The Phoenixes are not permanently attached to the Phoenix pallets, and the Phoenix pallets are not permanently attached to the plane. THAT is why Century's F-14 has the best, most useful weapons of all--because it's all separate. (Though their bombcats do suffer a bit from the "molded on" problem---the bomb racks are molded to the bombs, so you can't put any other bombs on the plane, because other bombs lack the F-14 bomb racks---if the bombs and racks were separate---then you could mix and match as needed, or even have empty bomb racks---which is VERY common, probably the most common for any Bombcat)

yeah but those other rails will be small and flimsy and people will get annoyed with them eventually and start complaining. Just like Dragon and their landing gears etc.

Would be great to see these planes coming up in 2009...I do have a built 1:48 F-105, which is nice...but nothing comparable to an F-89, F-102, F105 and F-106 in 1/72 on a shelf. What a great collection that would be...what can I say...fingers crossed

The F-89 Scorpion would make for a neat looking model. Look good in either 1/72nd or 1/48th scale.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

I'd love some F-105's for my wall or if I make a 1/72 airbase in S.Vietnam

If HM needs any reference pics for a F-105G the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum just added one to the collection any picture they need I can get for them.

I'd go for a Wild Weasel F-105G and a very colorful Delta Dart. That F-106 was one sleek machine I was lucky enough to see fly once or twice.
