Re: Scale question!

Uhh.....I do know the different model scales mate!! I'm not dumb! I asked this because i bought the Corgi Vietnam UH-1 years ago and because i'm not able to display it yet, it's still in my boxes somewhere,so i was'nt sure whether it was 1/72 or 1/48. But Starman confirmed that for me! As for the A10 question, yes,it is regarding the Warthog (Tank Buster) as it stands much taller than my other models!

Not sure what the scale the A-10 is so here are some numbers for both 1/72nd and 1/48th scale. (Based on height 14ft 8in length 53ft 4in wingspan 57ft 6in)

1/72nd scale height 2.44in length 8.89in wingspan 9.58in

1/48th scale height 3.67in length 13.33in wingspan 14.38in

Hope this helps.

Re: Scale question!

Well, when I saw the A-10 at last years Air Show, that baby did sit high, and by the way on the flybys it sounded amazing. I think HM got both sizes right.

When I was active duty Air Force I was able to see a live fire display (Think it was called Capstone) and it was pretty impressive actually getting to see an A-10 let loose with its 30mm.

Yeah, the A.10 sure IS a 'High-Sitting' a/c.

I had the chance to climb in the cockpit of an active A.10, at the 1999 Fairford 'Int'l Air-Tattoo, but I'd just smacked-up my leg in a M/cycle accident, so declined......

I'm 6ft 2ins Tall & was looking up as my head was level with the LOWER fuselage !!!!!!!!!!

To put things in perspective, I've attached a shot of a 'Lizard' European-1 Camo'd A.10 that I took at USAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, when the Resident 48TH TFW were equipped with F.111's.

Those were the days - no terrorist threats at Airshows & allowed to walk round openly (no USAF shows over here anymore, where there used to be DOZENS, each year !!!!!!!!!)

Like Cruv', just under 3 years ago, I attended "Exercise~Excalibur" on the local-ranges across from where I live & we saw & photo'd four A.10's during the competition....strafing the range with live 30mm Ammo....(Awesome !)

Incidentally, the local based RAF Tornado's (from IX Sqdn, at nearby Marham) CAME LAST in the Strafing-competition......

How embarrassing.....

Re: Scale question!

Thanks for the feedback guys! Some interesting stuff too! Talking of the A10 at airshows (..well,in the UK anyway!), i wish we could see more of the A10, as i only remember seeing it once and it was pretty impressive!
