kingpin, can you take a shot of the canopy part from the front so we can see the cross-section geometry? It should be a smooth curve right? Not squarish.

yup - that tells the story...now we need the experts to comment on the accuracy (it may be just fine although I seem to see a seam down the middle of it) What is your impression of this Phantom model, kingpin?

I'm no expert but the canopies are definitely "rounded" based on pictures of the actual plane. The closed and open front canopies of the model are somewhat flat on top but it doesn't really detract from the model. Shape of the hinged rear canopy is almost spot on. Quality of this model is almost at par if not a par with CW. Placed next to CW planes this plane doesn't look out of place.

I am not as critical in the models I collect. Sitting in my display case they look great. I will always think there will be a gray area when it comes to level of accuracy in replicas whether it is airplanes or cars. I like that the diecast companies reps are taking in interest in what the end user thinks..
