Re: P-61 Black Widow "The Last Stand " Poll

Well this poll is doing what i thought it would do......I think out voices have been heard again about the P-61..
Now all we can do is hope for the best.
JP

If this one comes out then yet another is added to my must have list.

The P61 would be a heck of a piece of diecast, come on HM you can do it , and most importantly you COULD make money out of it.

God Bless America.

Re: P-61 Black Widow "The Last Stand " Poll

I'd love to see Lady in the Dark and Moonlight Serenade in 1/48th

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: P-61 Black Widow "The Last Stand " Poll

Same here. C'mon HM, what is really preventing you from doing this diecast? Just my humble curiosity....

I would buy at least two P-61 Black Widows. Depending on the markings, probably more.

I'm also in for multiples of black and an OD version.

The P-61 has some of the best nose art from WW2,

Long time since I posted - felt I had to 'chime-in' on this one.........

Can't see this as being ANYTHING ELSE than a Commercial WINNER

It's PLENTY big enough in 1/72, after all, THAT's the scale it'll be guaranteed to sell in the most numbers

The nose-artwork alone on numerous versions will provide variation......

Also, the Olive Drab version will be of great interest, as can be marketed BOTH WITH & WITHOUT the upper-gun turret, as many were, till the faults were 'ironed-out'

A number of Olive Drab a/c wore invasion-stripes in the E.T.O as well as some Black a/c; so THAT adds YET ANOTHER dimension

Whoever takes the Gamble & ends up releasing the P.61 in 1/72nd is onto a surefire winner.........

Let's hope it ends up being Hobbymaster

I've attached the image of one (of several) decal-sheets made for Black P.61's in both the Pacific & E.T.O

"Lady In The Dark" looks great....
..... but THE BEST ONE (on that sheet) is "MoonHappy", an Olive Drab, Pacific Theatre P.61

Re: P-61 Black Widow "The Last Stand " Poll

I have wished for a Black Widow since I started collecting serious diecast aircraft models ten years ago. The P-61 Black Widow is a must have for me and I would collect several!

I've said this elsewhere and I'll say it again, I'd love to get a couple of P-61's.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: P-61 Black Widow "The Last Stand " Poll

If someone can find 6 distinct paint schemes, for the P-61, it'll have a much greater likelyhood of getting produced. I can only think of the hi-vis black, low-vis black, and OD.

Another scheme is the US Navy who designated ex-USAAF planes as F2T-1 and I believe 'Moonlight Serenade' had some green trim (prop spinners, wing tips) with the all over black paint. Some UK based versions had the D-Day stripes and I'm hoping that with the mix of dorsal turret and non-dorsal turret and versions with fuel tanks and without fuel tanks it can be justified. My personal fave is one I've seen from the 418th Night Fighter squadron with nose art, kill markings and the star and crescent on the tail fin. A P-61 would be absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: P-61 Black Widow "The Last Stand " Poll

Since a P-61B is being restored to flying condition here in the US, I can't think of a better time to release a 1/72 Black Widow. I'd buy more than one.

That is great to hear a P-61 is being restored.
