IL-2 seems to be very popular.

Re: Suggestions For Hobby Master's First Two Soviet Molds

My vote of confidence to this one - - -> 2) IL-2 ( two-seater )

I fully agree that the aircraft (IL-2 Sturmovik), produced in greater quantities than any other in history (I think), should be immortalised in (a good quality) diecast ...

Re: Suggestions For Hobby Master's First Two Soviet Molds

1. MiG 15
2. MiG 17
3. IL-2

The F-4s will need something to go after, figured the -15 and -17 would make nice playmates!

Re: Suggestions For Hobby Master's First Two Soviet Molds

Can't afford 1/48, even if I do live in the US, so would like 1/72 Yak-3, MiG-15.

Re: Suggestions For Hobby Master's First Two Soviet Molds

We need two (to start with):

WWII: IL-2

Cold War: MiG-15 (or MiG-17 to go with my F-4's)

Build on from there. I have to say that 1/72 is my preference (I can buy and (more importantly) put more in my display cases).

Re: Suggestions For Hobby Master's First Two Soviet Molds

I favor a balanced approach featuring one WWII fighter and one modern jet.

The MiG-15 and IL-2 seem like the soundest choices. Don't think you could wrong with a MiG-25 or
MiG-23/27 either.

1/72 for the jets, of course.

Re: Suggestions For Hobby Master's First Two Soviet Molds

1) MiG-19
2) MiG-21 (first generation versions, like the "F" and "F-13")
3) Il-28 Beagle

All in 1/72nd.
