#1 Pick Cold War Weekly Summary

The Cold War #1 Pick polls have received quite a few votes and looks like we may have a majority of the picks in (Except for Helicoptes and the Recce Polls started today). So going with the first and second place for each catergory, here is what it looks like so far:

Cold War Single Engine Fighter

First place F 105D & Mig 15
Second place Mirage F1

Cold War Twin Engine Fighter

First place F-101 Voodoo
Second place SU 15 Flagon & Mig 25

Cold War Twin Engine Bomber

First place F-111 Aardvark
Second place SU 24 Fencer

Cold War 4+ engine Bomber

First place B 58
Second place Tu-95 Bear

Cold War ASW Aircraft (Forgot to attach this group earlier)

First place P-3 Orion
Second place S-2 Tracker

Lots of neat choices in the polls.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

I really enjoy doing these polls and seeing the different aircraft forum have as their favorites. The WWII polls were fun and so far the Cold War Polls have been no let down. Maybe we can see some of these first picks actually get made.

Re: #1 Pick Cold War Weekly Summary

I think this survey are a good idea and, hopefully, will be read by the manufacturers. However, keep in mind we are talking about 1/72 scale models, so Vulcans, B-47s Orions etc would be rather large and expensive to produce. One wonders why, except for Corgi, no other company has attempted models of this size and there has been no indication that this situation might change in the future. Whether the market will bear producing say 1,000 Orions or similar sized aircraft in today's economic environment is a moot point.Though the above is a gloomy comment, I'm hopeful that somebody will step up and compete with Corgi as no collection is complete without the "heavies".
