Your #1 pick for Cold War ASW Aircraft

So far threads have been rack and stack lists of what member's favorite type diecast aircraft in various scales might be. It made me wonder what it would look like it you where limited to one plane and one plane only as a choice. Choice guidelines are based on the following:
1. Any Cold War Anti-Submarine Warfare aircraft, current models may not be correct variant, scale or possible quality issue with current models available.
2. Since looking for diecast picks, try to stick with scales 1/72nd, 1/48th and 1/32nd.
3. Yep, one plane and one plane only, no lists.

My number one pick would be the Fairey Gannet in 1/72th scale. One of those aircraft that is so ugly that it is kind of neat.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Your #1 pick for Cold War ASW Aircraft

I'd like an S-3 Viking in 1/72 and/or 1/48 (very doable size-wise). You're right the Fairey-Gannet is fugly

Probably equally as ugly is the French built Alize.....like long lost brothers or too much inbreeding........

Smile Re: Your #1 pick for Cold War ASW Aircraft

I'd put my vote in for the Avro Shackleton. Failing that the P3 Orion would be good too.
