Re: Your #1 pick for Twin engine Cold War Bomber

I'll go for the F-111, primarily because it was an innovator and saw real combat. One of the more interesting twin-jet bombers is the IL-28, "Beagle" which was made to a staggering total of 10,000 aircraft and was a mainstay of the Warsaw Pact, plus many other countries until the mid- to late- 1960s. The Mig-25 "Foxbat" also ranks high in the innovative leader category and made quite an impression on the Pentagon when it first became known.

I agree, the Beagle would make an excellent model.

That would make for a pretty unique model. Trumpeter has a nice 1/72nd scale kit of this one out now.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Is Trumpeter's version the Il-28 or the H-5? Or, does it include parts to make either one?
If a diecast was made of this, I hope the model would include the tip tanks. I always thought the tip tanks made it look just >that< much cooler...

My vote goes to the SU-24 Fencer. Oh so many schemes, of course 1/72

Re: Your #1 pick for Twin engine Cold War fighter

I suppose I'll throw in for the Su-15, a great looking machine and with it's history it makes a good representative of the Cold War IMO. Probably quite a few liveries to choose from as well.
