Re: Your #1 pick for single engine Cold War fighter

Lots of new members and models released since last poll. Maybe you should start new 4 engined poll in HM for William to get a look at. We know he's watching

Yep, going to do a poll covering that group too (4+ engine category). Just want to get a handle on the first two polls first.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Yeah, for Cold War birds the following polls can be created- two-engine bomber; four (or more) engine bomber; recon aircraft; anti-submarine aircraft; jet trainers; helicopters (if this one hasn't been done already), and other (covering transports, etc.).

Yeah, if enough members participate it will give William a better idea of what we would like to see.

Wink Re: Your #1 pick for single engine Cold War fighter

Noon Cold War Single Engine Fighter bean count. Currently we have 11 votes spread over 7 different aircraft.(Mig 15 has a 2 point lead.)

1. F4D Skyray ? 1 vote
2. F 84 Thunder Jet ? 1 vote
3. F-105D 1/72 1 vote
4. Hawker Hunter FGA 9 ? 1 vote
5. Mirage F-1 ? 2 votes
6. Mig 15 1/72 4 votes
7. Mig 17 ? 1 vote

For ease in making up tally, please just indicate the plane you are voting for. (Only one aircraft type per forum member)

If you find any mistakes, please pass them on.

My vote is for the MirageF1. Since HM is already doing the Mirage 2000 why not the Mirage F1 and Mirage III? Super Etendard, long shot? The Draken is a good call but the Saab Viggen should also really be in there too. What about the Su17/20/22 swing wings? Mig 23/27? Fiat G91? I'm just throwing out some ideas to stimulate diversity. The Folland Gnat would be quite cool but more a trainer with only one nation adopting a fighter version if memory serves.

George Preddy was......Just the greatest fighter pilot who ever squinted through a gunsight.
He was a complete fighter pilot.......Colonel John C. Meyer Deputy Commander of the 352nd.

You put me in a tough spot here CC.....Well then i'll have to say Mig-17...I'll always have that camo MB Mig-15 as a backup.

Now that's one interesting aircraft ZS. As far as i could remember it was involved in the 2nd Kasmiri Conflict and the Bangladesh Liberation War. Back then it was known as the " Sabre Slayers "

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Finland also buy a small number of the fighter version?
