Re: Close Up of upcoming Mirage 2000s

I really like them both! But if you could only have one, which version is the most representative of the mark?

when i see the desert camo' i think of all the export mirages like the III & 2000 ... when I see the blue/grey i think of the french air force

so to answer ur question probably the desert camo' but personally i'll be getting the blue/grey version ... not feeling the desert camo'

btw based on the following pic, the HM seems almost too blue

Post Re: Close Up of upcoming Mirage 2000s

I must be in the minority because I love HobbyMaster's dark lines. They bring out the details better and it sure beats the heck out of me having to ink them myself. I like the desert Mirage as well.

I am of the same opinion Hot Trap the lines IMHO can accentuate the overall shape of the model, the only direct comparison in my collection are HM & Corgi Ju87s the Corgi offering looks rather bland in comparison to the HM, these inked lines are also much easier to see for one such as myself with deteriorating eyesight.

I am now wondering about the rivets on the likes of the FoV Bf109 are these models made for the likes of me where the rivets are a sort of modelers Braille?

I don't know i think the panel lines are fine

over @ Century Wings ... everyone's raving about their F-14s as the best 1/72 ever but have a look at their panels lines

I love the Mirage. These models look really cool but I wish they'd tone down the panel lines and make a bunch in 1:48 scale. Do you see black panel lines on the photo above? No.

Looks nice- might have to get the second one. Though I do agree that the panel lines look harsh. Sometimes that is a photo artifact rather than reality though.

Good point about the harsh panel lines. I'm in the slow process of photographing my collection and it's obvious that the panel lines are highlighted under photographic conditions, e.g, flash and fill lighting. I suspect that many comments we read about overdoing the wash are based on lookig at the photos, not the real thing.

I have a final retail version of the Blue Mirage -- will be taking photos this weekend to hopefully post by Monday... I think the panel lines are very nice/subtle with this release and it looks like some effort was made by HM to make them so...

I don't think the process is perfect, and some of the same model may look darker than others?? And of course the lighter background on the Desert Storm version will show the dark lines more -- that said, they look to me like the camera may be highlighting them a bit, or perhaps they are pre-pros sent to the vendor for samples/photos? Unfortunately, I don't have the DS version to compare.
