Re: Devastating Devastators!

That would be a hefty model, probably looking at a wing span of 18 3/4 inches to it. .

Works for me! Actually, I realize a 1/32 diecast Devastator is a bit unrealistic. I will be just as happy building and detailing the plastic Trumpeter 1/32 TBD kit when is comes out. However, as everyone is saying, I would love to see a 1/72 Devastator. And if they do it, I hope they do have the canopies open on it and the gun deployed. That has been my biggest dislike on the 1/72 HM Dauntless. These WW2 USN bombers really need to have their canopies open and tail guns deployed.

To be honest, I would be more likely to buy a 1/32nd scale Devastor than the current Dauntless. I don't know where I would put it, but I would buy one for sure. I just like the looks of the Devastor and really like the canopy on it, that and the way the torpedo is hung. If someone (HM) puts out a Devastor I will one of the first in line to snag one (If 1/32nd scale one would have to be it).

Check out my thread from January of this year. Lots of Devastator livery options: How about a TBD Devastator?

oops - Sorry 1250ships! I forgot that you started this discussion a few months ago. You have provided a lot of great information and pictures! I'm glad that the mods merged our two threads. Was your thread a "poll" too?

Never hurts to revisit a good topic though.

No poll, just a way to appeal to Hobby Master by showing there are enough different paint schemes to make the model worthwhile.

While it ain't the prettiest thing i have ever seen it is a neccessary plane in the Naval history line-up. I voted yes.

Re: Devastating Devastators!

HobbyMaster is the only company I can see doing a TBD. But we will have to buy a lot of SB2Cs and Kates before it will happen. Plus, I think the Val should be first.

Hi,

To promise anything too early is risky sometimes, but HM has considered this plane for a long time. Our target is around 6 new molds for 1/72 each year. So we still have a few choices for this year.

One thing for sure is that there are enough liveries to justify for the development of this plane and this plane itself is special enough for the development.

Is Hobby Master great... or what!?! William really knows how to build a loyal customer base.
