So, these pilot figures then...

I know I'm going to regret asking this (from a financial viewpoint), but...

I just came across the info yesterday that HM are going to release pilot figures for their previously unmanned models. I have been tempted by some of the HM birds, but I hate models without pilot figures as I almost always display them wheels up. If there is an option to retrofit pilots, that might just sway me.

But, out of their WW2 props, which planes have cockpit access to fit crew figures? It looks like the Hellcat would be a doddle, but can the Dauntless and Avenger get their backseaters? And despite checking the web I can't tell is there's a removable canopy on the Stuka.

The P39 does look to come with a pilot, and that's a VERY tempting ship...

Re: So, these pilot figures then...

I am like you, I like my planes maned. All of my HM planes have a removable canopy. As soon as the pilots come out I am going to populate my planes. And if I have to I will cut or chisel a few limbs to make them fit in all my planes.

Re: So, these pilot figures then...

Think there is a thread that shows the placement of some of these figs in a few of the HM models.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

I wonder if it will be easy to place a figure in the rear machine gun position of an avenger.

That's what I'm wondering about. The Hellcat just needs a pilot, the canopy pulls back, so that looks simple enough. But for me it's no good having a single pilot in an aircraft that needs a rear gunner and perhaps an observer/bombardier. Perhaps future releases from HM will have a crew as they seem to have realised there's a liking for them?

One could just figure the rear gunner is badly wounded and slumped over?

Thanks all, looks like my collection might be getting some non-Corgi additions in the near future!

I would need two of these sets. Hope they will be expanding this line of figures.
