Re: I hope HM made medium bomber.....

Thought of a couple more, Handely Page Hampden and the Avro Anson. Ok, Anson not really a bomber, but it is a nice looking twin that did pull some maritime patrol service.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: I hope HM made medium bomber.....

I have been in the market for a diecast Anson and Hampden since I started collecting - well, since I started reading about aviation history when I was a kid, really. Imagine how cool it would be to have a Guy Gibson Hampden, Lancaster & Mosquito in your collection. Imagine how cool it would be to have Ansons and Harvards in RCAF markings (if you care for the RCAF that is!).

These are expensive imaginings, eh?

Good imaginings tthough. I have an Airfix Anson kit sitting on the shelf, and have been pretty tempted to pick up one of Classic Airframes 1/48th scale Ansons. There is an nice looking Hampden 1/48th scale kit out there by Fonderie Miniature France, but its pretty pricey at just a little over $100.00. Not sure how hard it is to try and find one of the old Airfix 1/72nd scale Hampdens.

I'll join you in this Milo. a nice Mk5 Anson would look really cool beside the RCAF Harvards and Mynarski Lanc. Could be well on way to a CWH diorama.

Re: I hope HM made medium bomber.....

Welcome Majorfatal, excellent topic for discussion! I would really love to see HM doing medium/light bombers, in particular the more "obscure" planes that folks have been suggesting. I would definitely be ordering EVERY version of a Pe-2 and the SM-79 that HM might produce. A Pzl P.37 Los and a Tu-2 would be great. A Pzl P.23 Karas would be fun too, though I suppose not really in this category.

I know I am starting to sound like a broken record about the WWII VVS aircraft, so please forgive me for doing it one more time. The Pe-2 would be a fantastic choice for HM, it's a great looking machine that is a good size for a 1/72 model. There is an abundance of colorful, interesting liveries to choose from, and not just Soviet. The Pe-2 wore the colors of Finland and Germany during the war, Poland and Czechoslovakia as well right at the end of the war. Some of the Polish Pe-2's were painted a light grey scheme. There was a variant with radial engines as well. I really think that it would make for a VERY impressive 1/72 diecast model. Okay, I'm done for now. Thank you for your patience.

All of that being said, I think that if indeed HM was to start producing these aircraft, the P-61 would have to be the first one for the sake of the many folks here that have advocated it for a long time now. I for one would happily order both a black and an OD one.

Not in this category, but I sure would like to have a Pzl P.23 Karas and a Fairey Battle (Have to be the single engine light bomber category). I really like the Karas with all that glass, and two gun positions.

Re: I hope HM made medium bomber.....

I have a feeling that the Betty, Pe-2 or the SM 79 would probably do pretty good. The SM 79 has some pretty neat paint schemes associated with it, that and it would look pretty good as a torpedo bomber too. Welcome to the forum majorfatal.

I second this; the SM-79 Sparviero was probably the best torpedo bomber of WW2. It could carry 2 torpedoes and these aircraft sunk over 850,000 tons of British shipping between 1941 and 1942. The Pe-2 is also on my list, but we have beaten the VVS aircraft to death.

Welcome to the forum, majorfatal!!

Looking forward to annoying the 'former' Florida Diecast Forum members!!

Re: I hope HM made medium bomber.....

I would also like to see HM pick up the mantel and make a twin engine bomber.

What would be the SAFEST bet for HM, I would think for a first effort something like the P61 or Boston would have the greatest overall appeal.

Welcome to the forum majorfatal, enjoy.

God Bless America.

I have a feeling it is going to be a sharp looking model (Well, except for the blunt nose thing.).
