Since we're getting a Silver RCAF CF-104 - How about a Green or Camouflage version?

O.K. We now know that Hobby Master will be doing #701 in Chrome WITH the VICON Reconnaissance Pod.

What would you think of a Green or Camouflage version in service with the Canadian Armed Forces post 1972?

Note: the RCAF ceased to exist as an entity in February 1968 when the RCAF, RCN, and Canadian Army all merged to become the Canadian Armed Forces.

Dan

Personally, I hope that Hobby Master does both versions!

When the European based squadrons converted from Nuclear strike to Conventional Ground Attack in 1972 they appeared in this overall green. (CAG stands for Canadian Air Group)

This is the camouflage scheme worn during the final years of service until retirement in 1986.

There's a thread on this topic already fellas:
How about this one on the Hobby Master F-104 Mould?

AC, you certainly called the new one!

As much as I'd like to see both of these. William made it pretty clear that the F-104 was on it's last legs and that the chrome CF-104 was pretty much it. I think HM should produce every country that flew it. Norway,Denmark,Turkey, Belgium and Spain.are what I think thats left. So with the Two other CAF 104's
thats at least seven more. The Dutch F-104 needs to be made available to US also.

If the tooling is still good, why bail on the model? You could just keep releasing various schemes or doing special commissions at a rate of 1-2 a year. The F-104 has too many great possibilites to abandon. I am still waiting for an operational Italian AF release...

I think that the poor performance of some of the special schemes (based on my personal observations) may have something to do HM stopping F-104 releases. The F-104 is like the MiG-21 and F-4, you could go on forever - just like the real aircraft!

I couldn't agree with you more Raven. The F-104 is my favorite jet since I was a kid. Some guys here feel the same way about the F-14. I wonder how many have all of Century Wings F-14 and still want more?
I would hope to see that IAF Phantom and Egyptian Mig 21 someday too!

Hi,

HM will not bring a total stop of the F-104. But we bring no more than 2 releases a year. There are quite some good schemes to be made yet like the CF-104 Camo, the German Marine, Italian regular scheme, Spainish, etc.

A long list which will go for years.

Thats Great news I can live with two a year. My personal favorite is the Gunfighters of the New West. German F-104G's in USAF Markings at LUKE AFB,AZ.
