Re: Since we're getting a Silver RCAF CF-104 - How about a Green or Camouflage versio

Wow!

Looks great! Good Job William.

I can't find too much wrong with it.

About the only thing I noticed is that the inverted red triangle (Ejection Seat) below the cockpit did not have a white outline until later during the CF-104s service career.

Looking forward to seeing her with the tip tanks and the Vicon Reconnaissance Pod.

Here is a picture (B&W) taken when she was rolled out of the factory in Montreal March 1961 (Red Panels on intakes yet to be painted).

Dan

Here is another picture (in Numerical order #701, #702, #703, #704, #705, ) taken on the flight line in Cold Lake after delivery. Note on this particular day #702 is wearing the red tip tanks.

Yes, you are right. We will use red triangle without the white outline.

yes i know its a two seater and canadian armed forces, this one was being used in germany but note it carries the red tailplane used by training aircraft back in canada.red stripe not reqd on this release
picture was posted to show the grey radome!

Zed
While it may appear that the red tailplane was an identifier for training aircraft, red was used on all RCAF aircraft in the late 50's and into the 60's to assist in SAR. Most of the fighters in Canada were natural metal and transport and utility were natural metal with white upper fuselage above the speedbird. High visibility red was used on horizontal surfaces (wings and tails) to assist searchers in the event of an aircraft going down in the snow or bush.

William, I just noticed that your pre-production pics do not show the aircraft registration number "12701" underneath the Red Ensign Flag
on the tail.

Your Artwork is missing this as well.

looking good, the grey needs to be lighter than that used on previous releases its supposed to be ADC grey[similar to boeing grey used on airliners]
would nice to get the red stripes on the pitot

Zed 550 is right!

Take a look at the JASDF Chrome F-104. The Grey on the Radome is much too Dark.

Yeah it is too dark. I thought William had posted somewhere that he knew this and about the under surface of the wings also being light grey. Maybe DAF?

Some preview of the CF-104 chrome. Red fuel tanks not attached. Vicon pod not ready yet.

The underside of the randome is flat white but it should be grey like the underside of the wings.

Hopefully the Grey is lighter than that used on the F-104J.

Yes, the under surface of the wings and the randome should have a lighter grey (like the Boeing Gray as document indicated) with some blue tone as well.

Our US distributor has kindly informed me about this.

Hi, I have the photo as well. As information indicated, the light grey (randome part) of the aircraft in this photo is much weathered so it appears look almost a white.
