Re: Since we're getting a Silver RCAF CF-104 - How about a Green or Camouflage versio

Hi,

HM will not bring a total stop of the F-104. But we bring no more than 2 releases a year. There are quite some good schemes to be made yet like the CF-104 Camo, the German Marine, Italian regular scheme, Spainish, etc.

A long list which will go for years.

Good News!

Dan

I have the Dutch camo F-104 and I believe it is the best one HM has made to date. Will definitely be getting the silver CF-104 to sit beside the Canadian Tiger meet version. Also have the Greek Mount Olympus that I was going to sell off but I have been toying with the idea of giving it a paint job to a green or camo green Canadian Forces scheme. Even found a place to purchase the decals, just a matter of finding some good pics to reference and most importantly the TIME.

Some more inspiration for a Green or Camouflage CF-104!

Both pictures are of A.E.T.E. (Aeronautical Evaluation Test Establishment) aircraft based in Cold Lake during clearance trials for C-14 Rockets (first pic)
and Mk.82 Snakeye general purpose retard bombs (second pic).

That would be nice to have those rockets and bombs hanging off the wings. If Hobby Master would do that then maybe we could see a Italian operational F-104S with sparrows.

Some preview of the CF-104 chrome. Red fuel tanks not attached. Vicon pod not ready yet.

The underside of the randome is flat white but it should be grey like the underside of the wings.

Wow!

Looks great! Good Job William.

I can't find too much wrong with it.

About the only thing I noticed is that the inverted red triangle (Ejection Seat) below the cockpit did not have a white outline until later during the CF-104s service career.

Looking forward to seeing her with the tip tanks and the Vicon Reconnaissance Pod.

Here is a picture (B&W) taken when she was rolled out of the factory in Montreal March 1961 (Red Panels on intakes yet to be painted).

Here is another picture (in Numerical order #701, #702, #703, #704, #705, ) taken on the flight line in Cold Lake after delivery. Note on this particular day #702 is wearing the red tip tanks.

looking good, the grey needs to be lighter than that used on previous releases its supposed to be ADC grey[similar to boeing grey used on airliners]
would nice to get the red stripes on the pitot

Take a look at the B&W photos above, no red stripes were on the pitot until later on.

The Picture you posted shows a Canadian Armed Forces version (Post February 1968 when the RCAF integrated with the other services).
