William: please stay in the 1/48 game. You're our best hope for a range of quality models in this scale.

After their Brewster Buffalos, have become kind of fond of 1/48th scale. Kind of like the mix of 1/48th and 172nd. That and some of the smaller aircraft do look better in 1/48th scale.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Wait a minute, Ara and fly...

C1 is back in the game! HM isn't our only hope and certainly not the best now that C1 is announcing more models for 2008. As nice as the HM Buffalo and Spitfire are, I still don't think they rise to the level of C1's top releases.

I thought that C1 would tackle this one as in my opinion it's a much better fit for them for a number of reasons (poor distribution network outside the US AND lower popularity of 1:48 worlwide, lower risk mold with multiple possibilities) while P-36 would have been a shoe in for HM, which likes to produce birds, which served in great number of airforces. However, C1 owner is known for his eccentricity.

Sergey

HM will definitely stay in the game of 1/48. We have the plan for the next 1/48 already but we prefer not to disclose it now.

The original planning is indeed the I-16, but the thought of developing a whole new line of WWII Soviet planes (Japanese planes as well like those "Ki" series) has brought me some extra considerations.

The I-16 will be a very nice model in 1/48 as a stand alone item, but the new 1/72 Soviet and Japanese line will definitely create a whole lot of more interest to the market. This will be exciting to collectors and more beneficial to HM from a marketing point of view.

A MIG-3 followed by I-16 as a start (1/72)?
