Buffalo HA7003 over-all gray

I try to keep a 1/72 WW2 focus, but a great deal on the subject model at AimHigher encouraged me to see what Buffalo owners were carrying on about. This IS an excellent effort by HM and this gray scheme really looks sharp with the model in hand.

Now I am looking forward to the F3F.

It never ceases to astound me how UGLY this little plane was - even gives a buffalo a bad name (great model from HM though ).

Hobby Master did do an outstanding job on their Brewster Buffalos. I have all six of the Buffalos and think the all grey version is a fine looking model. Personally I like the looks of the Buffalo and think it provides and interesting look at the transition from biplane to monoplanes in US Navy aviation history. With what I have seen from Hobby Master so far, the F3Fs should make for some excellent looking models.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Yeah, I didn't like Buffalos at all until I got these models. I think differently now. You get an appreciation for the technology of the day, as well as the USN colors in use. To be fair, many nations had awkward looking a/c in the mid 1930's, and HM is cracking into this market. These are not your refined Stangs, Spits or Butcherbirds; and I for one hope that more of these prewar designs come out. They are a great education and make for a unique and interesting display. I've got the F2A in my office right now and it's looking pretty cool.

Take a look at Cruve's sig and you can see the planes I mean. You can never learn enough about unfamiliar aircraft.

Re: Buffalo HA7003 over-all gray

I have a warm spot in my heart for the Buffalo. The old Naval Air Development Center in Warminster PA was originally a Brewster plant (although the Buffalos were made in NY.) A couple of the folks I worked with had worked for Brewster or Navy during the period the Buffalo was being designed. In its initial design weight it was a dandy little fighter. Armor plate, self sealing tanks, Navy mandated equipment later it was something else.

I have this exact plane from HM. All I can say is it is on the front row on one shelf. It is a beautiful airplane and one that I am constantly picking up and looking at. The dull grey paint color is simply fantastic.
