Re: A question

Well, I didn't say COA, just cert, which in the context you quoted meant a card with the number X of XXX stamped on it, which I do like to have simply for the fact that it makes the model feel more "collectible". As for COAs, I don't really care for 'em as like you say, they mean little. When it comes to art prints or something like that, I do like the COA.

It is true you did not say COA, just cert. However, most COAs that I have seen do have the "X of XXX" stamped on them.

The X of XXX invites the inference that only XXX will be produced, but this may or may not be the actual case.

Re: A question

They do just ask Louie. Of course with the new release by CW of the JR F-14, its getting harder to believe in limited runs.

Re: A question

I have no problem with the idea of limited runs, but I have never understood the fascination with, or the purpose of, "Certificates of Authenticity."

When I open a new CW or Franklin Mint purchase (or any other brand, for that matter), it never even crosses my mind that I may be holding a counterfeit model, made by Elves in their secret counterfeit workshop south of the border. I have zero concern over that.

And are we to believe that the Certificate of Authenticity is a legally binding document that will prevent a re-issue of that model at a later date? Please tell me no one here actually believes that.

I was told that if Hobby Master makes a LE and a COA then they WILL NOT issue more than the stated maximum number on their COAs. So if Hobby Master states that HA1011 is a LE and limited to a maximum of 1000 pieces worldwide then Hobby Master will never make and market more than 1000 models with this paint scheme. If for some strange reason all 1000 pieces don't sell quickly then they could re-offer the remaining number of pieces at a later date but they won't make more the 1000 available to the market over any length of time.

Re: A question

Really don't think this is the attitude taken by Hobby Master, at least not in my opinion after having dealt with them for almost 2 years. I can't say for sure but I have been preaching that they should make a certain amount of LE and my reasoning was because I'm sure most people are like me and like knowing that we have a model that is one of only 700 or 1000 pieces in the entire world. Chances are I'm not going to go to 3 neighbors that collect die-cast planes and tanks and find them all with these LE models. At one time I used to have my own online die-cast shop and the thing that customers wanted the most were LE and the large majority didn't want them hoping the value would increase, they wanted them simply because they were LIMITED. I really hope people never buy models simply as a financial investment, you could be very disappointed. If you buy a model please do so because you like it for its looks, detail, historic value or whatever but not solely as an investment.
As far as Hobby Master is concerned I think they are simply once again giving the collector what we ask for and not trying to sucker us. This just my personal opinion.

Re: A question

Hawk,

I dont care either way about limited editions or not, but I do care about quality and good interesting schemes and models.

HM are doing a great job of bringing us new and interesting models with only minor problems.

I know I have complained about heavy panel lines but I still have a shelf full of HMs stuff.

I get the feeling that longer term HM may well be the number one in the diecast market, at the moment they certainly are leading the way.

God Bless America.

Have to agree with you on the limited edition collectibility issue. I base my purchases on the ooh,,, ahhh,, that plane looks to cool,,, got to have it.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

At what point does the "ouch, it cost how much? " come into play? As if it stops us!

Do any of you feel, Hobby Master is coming with out with too much product too fast
I want it all but don't have the funds to get it all

We can certainly do with more of the 1/32 stuff especially now that HM is the only one producing in this scale.
As for the funds.....well heck, I donīt go to bars, I donīt smoke Iīm happily married so I want to enjoy my hobbies!!!
Life is short, than you die..........
